Stay, Please!

Alexis pushes her horse as fast as it can go. She had just found out that morning and she knows she needs to do something. This can't be it. This can't end like this.

She sees the guards up ahead and knows she is close. Calling out King Henry's name, she watches as the guards in the back turn at the sound and let the rest of the entourage know of her presence there, effectively stopping them all.

Alexis rides closer when she spots King Henry riding to meet her halfway.

-"Alexis, what are you doing here?" - He looks behind her, searching for her guards but finds her alone.

-"You can't leave."

-"Alexis, I have..."

-"You can't give up."

-"It's a little more complicated than that." - He smiles softly at her.

-"No, it isn't. I know what happened between you, my mother and Lord Roberts, but that doesn't mean you should give up."

-"This is for the best."

-"I don't believe that. I can't believe that. I know you love my mother. The way you look at her, the way you're so protective of her, all of that tells me you love her. You need to stay and fight."

-"It really isn't that simple, Alexis. Your mother will be better off with someone with a much better reputation than mine."

-"She doesn't care about your reputation. She knows who you really are and so do I. Please, stay."

-"Please forgive me. If you ever need anything, all you have to do is send word to me and I will be there, no matter what." - He gives her a sad smile. -"Guards! Escort Lady Alexis back to the Castle and then return home. Goodbye Alexis."

He bows his head at her, before turning his horse and riding away.

Alexis watches him leave, tears in her eyes, before turning back to the Castle, refusing to accept that this is the end. "This can't end like this. It just can't.", she thinks, as tears begin to fall and sobs rake her body.
