Inspired by Wednesday and Enid's dynamic from the show Wednesday.
Hyein's P.O.V Today was the first weekend of boarding school. Unlike most schools we got the weekend to settle in and a tour for all the newcomers. It was my third year at Ador High so I didn't need the tour but I signed up to be the Saturday morning guide. I liked meeting new people and helping others so it made sense that I'd volunteer.
It's after lunch and I still don't have a roommate. Maybe I just won't be getting one this year. I invited a few of my friends to my room since I was alone. "You'r so lucky you don't have a roommate." My friend Riwon said. "Why are you complaining, you're roommate's nice." Rora retorted. "It's the principle." Riwon said. "Just be quiet Riwon. I have to deal with Lena again." Rora said. "Remember last year when she brought you a dead bird as a birthday gift." I said laughing. Everyone else except Rora burst out laughing at the memory. "Stop." Rora whined. Her wish was granted when a knock at the door interrupted us.
"Come in!" I called out. It was our dorm mother Ms Yongsun with a girl and a couple who I'm assuming are the girls parents. The girl was wearing a dark grey outfit that matched her parents' black ones and had a stoic expression. She had a raven on her shoulder, which I'm assuming is her familiar otherwise it wouldn't be allowed, meaning she's a witch. "Hyein this is Y/N, she's a new student and will be your roommate for the year." Ms Yongsun said. I smiled at Y/N and greeted her but her expression remained the same while she let out a barely audible "hey." "Ok then I'll leave her to settle in, she'll be in tomorrow's morning trip so don't leave her behind." Ms Yongsun said and I nodded. "How long will your friends be here?" Y/N asked. "Till dinner probably, why?" I responded. "I don't like crowds." She answered. Y/N arranged her luggage at the foot of her bed and left wordlessly. We didn't think much of it and continued our conversation.
Dinner had come and go and I didn't see Y/N. I was getting a bit worried. Just when I was about to go tell Ms Yongsun, Y/N came back. "Where were you?" I asked. "Why do care?" She asked. "I was worried." "Why?" "Cause, you might have been getting into trouble." "Well I wasn't." She said. I decided to let her be and went to text my friends.
"You aren't much of a talker are you?" I asked. It's been an hour since Y/N was in the room and she never initiated a conversation and gave very curt answers when I tried talking to her. "No and I can tell you're quite the opposite." She said. "I just want to get to know you." I said defensively. She sighed and put the book she was reading down. "My name is Y/F/N, I'm 16. I don't like crowds, noises or changes. I like reading, my favourite authors are Edgar Ellen Poe and Emily Dickinson." "Aren't you going to ask about me?" She just looked at me blankly before going back to her reading.
