Nyx and Xypher. Despite being the most sought after people in the heist world they'd never worked... until now. AgustD the person that usually hired Nyx decided to hire Xypher as well, after all he was planning to steal (by proxy) the most priceless jewels in the world and they were the best of the best.
Xypher was a top class hacker. She'd hacked into security systems, Google, Apple hq. Even national security systems like the FBI, NCA and even North Korea's national systems. There were even rumors that she's part of Anonymous, the most prolific hacker group but that was just speculation. If you ask her she'd just shrug, "Anyone can be Anonymous."
Nyx was more hands on. She was known for her stealth and quickness. Always making it through whatever heist she did without leaving a trace. Only way to know someone was even there is through the missing item, but you'd never know it was her.
Talks went around about them in the underground scene but no one truly knew them. They kept their faces hidden, even their voices were hidden. Getting into contact with them was like climbing Mount Everest, challenging but worth it in the end.
"Tell me about this plan of yours." Nyx said as she sat opposite AgustD in his office with Xypher beside her. "La Louvre is holding a special jewelry exhibition in a month's time. Jewelry from past monarchs, celebrities and major jewelry houses will be there. I want Marie Antoinette's pearl and diamond necklace. Pieces from the House of Grimaldi. And Mouawad's L'Incomparable Necklace, and a few art pieces of course." AgustD said. "And payment?" Xypher asked. "I'll pay you each 500 million." Xypher was skeptical at the offer, it was a huge sum to pay upfront and she'd never worked with him before. Nyx on the other was pleased. "I'm in." After a few moments of consideration Xypher also agreed.
Over the two months that they've been planning the heist Xypher and Nyx got close. Something that was unusual in their line of work but they'd grown to trust each other. They'd talk normally about mundane things or really deep stuff and it was nice to finally not constantly have to be on guard. Even though they'd never fully revealed their true identities, that was a step they both weren't ready for, they still felt like friends.
Like usual the two were in the underground base where they plan the heist. Nyx sighed and laid her head on the desk they were working at. "I'm tired let's take a break." She groaned. "This is the second time your asking for a break in one hour." Xypher said, not looking up from her computer. "Can you blame me? I'm bored, besides we've already planned everything." Nyx said. "Fine, what do you wanna do?" "Let's go get food." "Dressed like this?" Xypher questioned pointing to their all black outfits and masks. "I always come prepared." Nyx said pulling out wigs, brighter clothes and face masks from her backpack. "Wow." Xypher said as she took the brown wig Nyx handed her. They both turned away from each other, changing into the disguises. "Let's go." Nyx cheered as they both left the base.
After they both got the food and went back to the base. They changed back into their usual clothes and sat down. "What are you planning on doing after this?" Xypher. "Honestly I wanna retire. Do normal people stuff like go to college." Nyx shrugged. "Me too." "Really?" "Yeah, I wanna go to Luxembourg, its small and economically stable, perfect for settling down. "Omg me too." Nyx said excitedly. "Maybe we'll end up bumping into each other." "Maybe we will."
A few weeks later Nyx stormed into the base, slamming the door shut. "Woah, what's up?" Xypher asked. "AgustD that bitch." (sorry Yoongi) Nyx spat. "What about him?" Xypher asked in confusion. Nyx didn't say anything, just tossed her a voice recorder. Xypher played the recording, at first nothing seemed out of the ordinary till she heard the part that probably got Nyx mad. AgustD was planning on selling them out to the police and taking everything they'd get from the heist. Nyx paced around the room while Xypher watched. "So what are we gonna do? Pull out?" Xypher asked. Nyx was about to say yes but then thought of something. "No, I have a better plan." Xypher raised an eyebrow at the girls words. "What plan?" Nyx smirked and sat opposite her, getting ready to divulge the details of her plan.
~Le Time Skip~
It was finally the day of the heist, two days before the exhibit. Nyx was on the roof of La Louvre in a dark navy blue bodysuit and ski mask, a trick of hers, navy blended in better with the night than black. Xypher was in a van a few meters from the building, breaking into its system. "Ok and... go." Xypher said through her ear piece once she got the system down. Nyx slipped through the vents. As expected the place was packed with security but she managed to get most of the pieces she needed without getting caught. That was until she reached the House of Grimaldi exhibit. One of the security guys saw and called for backup. "Shit." Nyx muttered as she looked at the approaching security. Xypher looked on from the camera in the van. Luckily they had planned for this. "Hold them off while I trigger the alarm. Remember you only have ten minutes to get away once I do" "Got it." Nyx said.
She pulled out her gun aiming it at one the guys. "You know this could end peacefully if you let me go." Nyx said. "Yeah no can do." The guy at the front said. "Oh well, suit yourself." Nyx shrugged. She shot at the first guys shoulder. It wasn't a fatal shot, she had no intention of killing anyone, she just had to get them of her back. She'd managed to get most of the guys off her except two. One the guys managed to shoot the gun of her hand. "Damn it." She cursed. She ducked as another bullet came at her. She picked up a piece of broken glass from the ground and began barreling towards the guys. As expected the guys tried shooting at her but she anticipated that and ducked, sliding across the floor. She tripped one of the guys and kicked away his gun. The other one took out his gun but she quickly rolled away, hiding behind his teammate. "Drop the gun." Nyx warned. The guy seemed unbothered, still holding up his pistol but still hesitated in actually using it. Nyx took this as her opportunity, shoving the guy she was hiding behind, causing him to stumble into the the other and they both tripped. The two quickly regained their composure, barreling towards Nyx. They caught her but didn't notice the glass in her hand which she used to her advantage. She stabbed the guy behind her side and quickly pushed the one in front of her away.
"Ok, head to the vents now." Xypher said. "Finally." Nyx said as she grabbed the bag with the stolen art pieces. She ran to the first room she was in, climbing through the vents. Once she made it she quickly ran to the van where Xypher was waiting. "You got everything?" "Mhm" Nyx said holding up the bag. "Great, let's go."
The two drove to where they were supposed to meet AgustD. They gave the bigger pieces of jewelry like Marie Antoinette's necklace and the art pieces. Only keeping the smaller yet still expensive pieces for themselves. Then, instead of taking the secluded route like they had originally planned they drove through the city center. They'd given the cops an anonymous tip off that Nyx and Xypher changed routes but in reality they just gave the cops the route AgustD was planning on taking. Once they made it through without any interactions with cops they watched through the camera's they'd installed as AgustD got caught with jewelry and paintings, cursing at the cops. "That fool really thought he could trick us, take the jewelry and the reward money?" Nyx looked at the video with amusement. "Selfish if you ask me, but he got what he deserved." Xypher said.
The two drove on, meeting a new buyer for the jewelry they stole. After they got the money they split it in half. They both went to their separate get away cars. "You know since we're both retiring I think its safe for us to know each other's real identities." Xypher said. Nyx smirked at her before taking of the ski mask she was wearing. "Y/N" She said and held out her hand. Xypher did the same before shaking her hand. "Maya." "Well Maya, hopefully we meet again ." "Yeah me too."
Despite the unspoken words hanging in the air, the both of them left without saying anything else. Both speeding of into the night.
