Two days after their meeting with Adam in the castle, Ash and his companions press on with their quest, escorting the townspeople toward the next town where the next gym awaits. Ash and Alice wear somber expressions, not particularly thrilled about being assigned to one of the gym leader groups. The reason for their discontent becomes apparent as they learn that Misty is part of this group, and the path ahead is teeming with Bug Type Pokemon, a prospect that doesn't sit well with either of them.

Joining Ash and Alice in this group are Cilan, Brock, Kiawe, Mallow, and Lana. As they gather, Ash takes the initiative to address everyone. "Before we embark on Route 2, there are a few things I need to explain," he begins, his tone both serious and accommodating. "To reach the next town, we must traverse the Bugger Forest. As the name suggests, we'll encounter a multitude of Bug-type Pokemon along the way. I hope you've all prepared accordingly."

Nods of acknowledgment ripple through the group, but Misty, visibly uneasy, raises her hand and voices her concerns. "Can I avoid going through there? I can't stand Bugs!"

Regretfully, Ash shakes his head. "I'm afraid not. The Bugger Forest is our only route to the next town, and we can't leave anyone behind. If you're genuinely anxious, perhaps you can seek assistance from a Bug Specialist to guide you through safely."

Misty sighs, resigned to her fate, while nearby gym leaders Bugsy, Burgh, Viola, and Katy exchange sympathetic glances before the group sets off toward Route 2.

(Note: In the game, Route 2 features a Rival battle, and upon victory, players receive HM01 for Cut.)

"This route is filled with Cut Trees, but I'm sure many of you have Pokémon that can use Cut, right?" Alice inquires, prompting nods from the others as they call upon their Pokémon to clear the obstructing trees. However, their efforts are thwarted when they realize that the trees are regrowing, a common phenomenon observed in various regions.

As they venture deeper into the Bugger Forest, Ash takes the opportunity to brief the group. "The Bugger Forest is home to Bug Type Pokémon, though there's also a chance of encountering a Farfetch'd here. We'll be spending half a day here before moving on to the next location," he explains.

The group acknowledges Ash's words and begins to set up picnic blankets and other essentials for their brief stop. Despite the inviting atmosphere, Misty hesitates to leave, visibly uneasy about the Bug Type Pokémon around her. However, with gentle persuasion from the others, she reluctantly joins in. Ash and Alice observe the group, their minds drifting back to a conversation that had taken place many days before, a conversation that seemed to echo through the present moment.

"You mean targeting them individually? Are you certain that will be effective?" Mark questions, his tone laced with uncertainty.

"We can't be sure, but we have to take the risk," Adam asserts firmly. "I can't bear to see those responsible for my wife's death walking freely in the region without facing consequences."

"We all share your sentiments," Ash chimes in, his expression darkening with resolve. "Perhaps it's worth considering. I believe I already have someone in mind to start with."

The group falls silent, exchanging uneasy glances as they sense the weight of Ash's determination.

(Flashback Ends)

Ash and Alice find themselves walking alone, stopping in front of a rock that bears a striking resemblance to a Beast Ball. Ash gestures towards it, saying, "What we didn't mention to the others is that right here, in this specific spot, if they acquire the Key Item Ultra Beast Remote, they can activate an Ultra Wormhole and gain access to one of the Ultra Wormhole locations."
