Nam's POV:
Just as I was about to march over and do something I'd regret, Noey's voice cut through the tension. "Mic check, one, two..." she began testing the microphone, and my anger simmered down a little. But before I could even fully process what was happening, P'fa grabbed my wrist and guided me backstage.
We exchanged some casual chit-chat, but soon Kate interrupted, her eyes narrowing as she glanced at me and Freen. "Why are you two wearing the same outfit?"
I let out a small laugh. "I thought I'd go with white and blue today, and somehow this bitch had the same idea." Freen said.
Freen shot me an exasperated look but couldn't help smiling. "Hey, we bought it together, so it's fine. Sisters who eat together, wear the same dress, right?" I said with a wink which made everyone laugh.
The laughter that followed eased the tension in the room, and just as we were calming down, Principal Sir entered with his usual wide smile.
"Kids, I'm proud of all of you. You truly deserve these positions. Well done." He beamed, and I rolled my eyes slightly. Same old speech. Same old praise. I could already feel my attention slipping.
He moved to the stage, launching into his long, drawn-out lecture, which, honestly, I had no interest in. I knew exactly what was coming. The same tired motivational speech he always gave. But I had to sit through it, especially since I was about to be the next vice president after P'heng. It was exhausting, and they always asked why I slept through these things.
"Freen and Nam," Sir said suddenly, snapping me out of my daze. "You two want to say something?"
I shot Freen a glance, silently praying she wouldn't throw me into the spotlight. She shrugged, her usual calm demeanor masking any nerves. "No, Sir. We'll just introduce ourselves to everyone." I said with a smile.
I sighed internally, but at least that was over. Sir gave a nod and went on his way, leaving the stage and heading off for what I was sure would be another one of his 'important meetings.'
And then, as if he hadn't just left us to handle everything, I couldn't help but mutter under my breath, "He fucking left us... He's the principal, not me..."
I didn't even want to stand up and do the whole introduction thing, but of course, Freen grabbed my arm, pulling me to my feet. "Come on," she said with that teasing smile I couldn't resist. "Let's do this together."
I groaned, but there was no getting out of it. Jeez. I was definitely not in the mood.
Freen's POV:
We were deep in our work when P'fa and Nam suddenly stormed in. Their expressions were fierce, as if they were ready to tear someone apart. The silence in the room was thick until Noey, always the curious one, broke it with a question.
"What happened?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.
"That bitch is here at our college," P'fa said, fury blazing in her eyes. "I think she's a first-year. I swear, I'll make her life a living hell."
The room went quiet, and Noey's curiosity peaked. "Who's this 'bitch'?" she asked.
Nam, who had been sipping water, didn't hesitate. "Remember the other day, when P'fa was crossing the street? That girl hit her, even though the light was red, and didn't even apologize. She acted like nothing happened. P'fa ended up in the hospital and couldn't attend her exam. That girl's got some nerve."
I could see the anger in Nam's eyes too, and it made my blood boil just hearing about it.
Noey, trying to lighten the mood, started to speak, but before she could finish her sentence, a voice interrupted us.
