53. Closeness

From the other side of the call, Nam spoke in a hurry, "P'Fa... where are you? We need you here for the decoration finalization."

Engfa sighed, gesturing for Char to get inside with one hand as she walked toward the driver's seat. "I'm coming, Nam... I just finished shopping here. Give me some time."

Nam and Engfa continued talking about the decorations for a little longer before Engfa finally ended the call.

Char leaned against the seat and turned toward her. "You know, you guys could easily book a team for the decoration."

Engfa hummed softly and glanced at Char before focusing on the road again. "I know, but honestly, we wanted to do it ourselves... We wanted it to feel special. And Freen suggested decorating the whole wedding together."

Char huffed and crossed her arms. "I'm afraid the decoration won't be complete, but the wedding will already be over."

Engfa laughed softly and placed a hand on Char's thigh. "We'll all do it together na. Don't worry."

Soon, they arrived at Chankimha's mansion. 

The large garden outside was already half transformed for the wedding. Tall white frames stood around the pathway, some already wrapped with soft fabrics.

Fairy lights hung loosely from tree branches, not fully arranged yet, while boxes of flowers covered the grass nearby.

A few ladders were left around the garden, ribbons and roses scattered everywhere as if the place itself was still in the middle of becoming beautiful. 

Near the stage, Freen and Becky were standing side by side, carefully selecting flowers for the decoration.

Char snugged closer to Engfa and whispered, "You see that? I'm sure Freen had another reason for offering to handle the decorations."

Engfa chuckled and nodded before walking toward the house with Char.

Meanwhile, Freen handed a rose to Becky with a soft smile.

Becky blinked a few times in confusion before looking at the flower. "What? Are you sure roses will look good for the decoration?"

Freen frowned lightly and shook her head. "I'm giving this to you, not for the decoration."

Becky froze for a moment before carefully accepting the rose, happiness instantly spreading across her face. "It's beautiful... Any reason you're giving it to me?"

Freen shook her head. "No reason. I just wanted to give it to you."  Then she turned back toward the decorations again to hide the slight blush. 

She was nervous about Becky's reaction and so she just turned away. What if Becky didn't like it? What if she wanted to hand the rose back? 

Freen let out a sigh and picked a sunflower for decoration of main stage as that was Serena's favorite flower.

Becky stared at the flower for a second before looking at Freen with a soft smile. Slowly, she stepped closer. 

"Freen..." she called softly, placing a hand on her shoulder.

Freen turned around with a curious expression. She glanced at the rose before glancing back at Becky, "Yes?"

Her hands were rubbing together in nervousness which she was trying hard to not show. 

Becky gently squeezed her shoulder when she noticed the nervousness across Freen's face. Then she tiptoeing slightly and pressing her soft lips against Freen's cheek. 

Even Becky herself didn't fully understand why she did it. But she knew she wanted Freen to understand that this meant a lot to her. 

It wasn't just about the rose, it was about the fact that Freen was finally letting her back into her life again.

Freen froze, her eyes widen and for a second her heart felt like it will burst from how fast it was beating. She let out a shaky breath as the kiss lingered for a bit longer. 

Her fingers loosen around the flowers she was holding. She hesitated before slowly circling her hands around Becky. 

At first the hold was lose, she was giving Becky space to actually pull away. But when she noticed Becky leaned into her hug, she tighten her hold around her. 

A bright smile spread across Becky's face as she buried her face into Freen's neck, tightening her arms around Freen even more.
