7. Old School

Frank had called the team down to watch a video on the secret MI9 tech news channel.

\\\M.I.9 TECH NEWS UPDATE\\\

"I am Sebastian J Wilberforce, new head of research at MI9. There's one reason we're not winning the war with KORPS - technology. My recently perfected molecular accelerator will change all that. It uses quantum manipulation to accelerate the evolution of the object to whichever time period you desire. Not bad, eh? The best part is that when I connect this to the MI9 network at our secret facility this afternoon all of our technology will be upgraded instantly."

Alex loves tec. It's one of the things that she and Frank had in common, so she was very excited about the new accelerator.

"Cool. It'll be like getting a new phone." Aneisha said being somewhat excited. However, Alex noticed that Frank wasn't as excited as she thought he would be.

"Not quite the technology will be so advanced, they'll be controlling everything from MI9 HQ." Frank explained. The team then started to realise where this was heading.

"So, what happens to us?" Dan said asking the big question on everyone's minds.

"They're disbanding MI High. You will each be sent back to your old schools, you won't see each other anymore, and I'm out of a job. We're on the scrapheap."

Alex took back what she felt earlier. She was not looking forward to the new accelerator. In fact, she now hated it. Alex loved her job and her friends. The thought of them not being together anymore scared her. At least she still had Tom. They were at the same school before the whole MI9 job, but she will still miss the others.

"Today St Heart's is going to hold its first ever careers fair." Mr McNab announced to the class.

"So boring!" Dan muttered to himself while using his school bag as a makeshift pillow.

"You are in for a very, very special treat because General Gabriel Grinder is going to grant us some insight into the many, many joys of a military life."

"I thought it was a career fair. That's only one career." Aneisha said to herself, but it was overheard by the group.

"There's only one career I'll ever want." Tom added. The team haven't been the same since Frank had told them that they were being replaced with technology. there is only ever one job they will want, and it is being taken away from them.

They listened to Mr McNab for another ffive minutes before they felt their pencils buzz.

"They need us." Dan said with a look of hope in his eyes.

Let's go." Zoe said. they got up from their seat and quietly make their way out of the class as Mr McNab was still talking.

"There is a structure to your day, your life, to your routine..."

They made their way over to the broom cupboard, and Alex used the thumb scanner, and the others went into the room. Zoe pulled the broom, and the lift changed the team into there spy uniform.

As the doors open the team walk into the room very excited about what mission Frank had for them.

"Don't worry, Frank. The awesome fivesome are back in the house." Tom announced to Frank.

"Unleash the Neish!" Aneisha added.

"MI9 realised their mistake. There's some world-ending threat." Dan said confidently.

"They need us to take it out." Zoe added onto dan statement.

"And we'd like a written apology" Alex said to frank.
