I finished lacing up my skates and took a deep breath. Jamie offered to teach me to skate, so here we are at the American Airlines Center. It was around 10:30 in the morning and it was an off day for the Stars, so no one else was in the arena.
"(Y/N) are you ready?" Jamie called from the ice. He was swiveling backwards, doing some odd little dance that almost looked like the moonwalk.
I laughed and somehow managed to stand in the skates. Wow. This was gonna be a long day.
Jamie stood by the entrance of the ice, leaning up awkwardly against the boards. I wobbled over to him and bravely took one step on the ice. My eyes were glued to my feet, not taking a chance to look up and possibly fall.
I brought my other foot onto the ice, slipping slightly. Jamie panicked and grabbed me, holding me tightly against him.
I let out a breathy laugh, muffled by his hoodie.
"Jamie, I'm alright. I just lost my footing. You can let go now,"
"Sorry. I just don't want you getting hurt. I would blame myself," he chuckled.
I giggled and took a step back, holding both his hands. I looked up at him and nodded. He smiled and started skating backwards slowly. As we gradually moved faster, my feet started to look something like the motion Jamie was making.
I was so focused on not falling, I didn't realize Jamie had let go of me. He was right next to me, but no longer holding me.
"Jamie!" I screamed making him laugh.
"You're doing it!" He smiled brightly.
"Ya, but I want to stop now," I chuckled nervously.
"Oh right. We haven't learned that yet," Jamie rushed out.
He skated up to me and caught me in his arms, bringing us to a complete stop.
The atmosphere seemed to change suddenly and we both went quiet.
We were just... there, holding each other in the middle of the ice. My head was rested on his chest while his rested on my shoulder, arms wrapped around my midsection. It seemed uncomfortable to me because of our height difference and he had to lean down a bit to reach my shoulder, but he looked okay with it, so I let it go.
"(Y/N) I love you," he blurted out.
I shocked me a little since it was the first time he had said that, but I smiled nonetheless and gripped his hoodie in my hands.
"I love you, too, Jamie,"
"I was going to wait for a more romantic kind of date, but it felt right to tell you now. I looked at you skating and I just- I realized how much I really did love you. I realized how important you are to me and I never want to lose you," he breathed.
The feeling of butterflies erupted in my stomach and I felt like it was the first time I ever saw him.
"Jamie... I don't know what to say. No one has ever said something like that to me," I spoke.
"Then don't say anything," he mumbled before crashing his lips onto mine. I smiled into the kiss and brought my hands up to his shoulders.
"I really love you, too, Jamie,"
Requested by @thekanershuffle. So after I finished this I realized it was quite short. It also turned super cheesy towards the end, but I hope you like it!
