Kane or Toews? Hardest decision ever. I thought. I sighed, knowing I only had money for one jersey.
Well, I could always get one first then get the other one another time. I smiled triumphantly, and then groaned quietly when the debate of what one to get first filled my mind.
I heard something fall to the left of me, making me turn my attention over to it.
I snorted quietly when I heard a worker cuss under her breath as she dropped a box full of shirts. She looked up at me and glared, mumbling something under her breath, then smirking to herself.
I raised my eyebrows and gave her my best 'bitch' face making her scowl and turn away from me.
Giggling to myself, I saw a sign with Jonathan Toews on it next to the table the girl was supposed to set the box on. I couldn't see what it said, but it was the only hint I needed.
"Toews it is," I mumbled, placing the Kane jersey back on the rack.
"Nice choice," I heard a deep voice call from a couple feet away.
"Thanks. I guess..." I mumbled, still browsing the other jerseys, not turning around to see who was talking to me. I wasn't a very social person and I was very awkward around new people, so I didn't want to talk to them. I would make a fool of myself.
"Want me to sign it for ya?" The stranger asked.
I sighed, annoyed, and finally turned around.
"Why would I want you to-" I stopped myself. No way. I looked at the sign, not believing my eyes. I squinted a bit, finally making the words a bit clearer: 'Jonathan Toews signing' No way.
"So... is that a no?" He spoke again.
I looked towards him again; he was rubbing the back of his neck, teeth clamped down on his lower lip. Oh dear lord.
"I- um- sorry... I'm not really- uh- used to t-talking to hockey players," I spit out, immediately closing my mouth and squeezing my eyes shut, realizing how stupid I sounded. My bottom lip quivered slightly and I guess he noticed.
"Hey, no, it's fine, don't worry, ok? I'm sorry, please don't cry. I wouldn't feel very good if I made a beautiful girl cry," he smiled, running his hands over my hair lightly.
This made me laugh and open my eyes. I took a slight step back when I saw how close he really was to me. This made him drop his hands quickly, stuffing them in his pockets.
"Sorry, that probably wasn't something I should have done. I don't know you, so that was pretty stupid," he stumbled out.
I giggled at his nervousness, surprising myself and him.
"Well, my name is (Y/N) (L/N) and I am 24 years old. I am a college student and my favorite color is (Y/F/C)" I smiled, getting a sudden burst of confidence.
His mouth turned into a smile and he began to say something, but got interrupted.
"Jonathan, you're not supposed to talk to fans before the signing,"
We turned and saw the girl employee, lips curled, hands on hips. I almost said something, but Jonathan beat me to it.
"I don't think one fan can cause any harm. Oh, and it's Mr. Toews to you, please and thank you," he smirked.
Both her and my mouths dropped open at his words. Mine turned into a bright smile while hers turned right back into a scowl.
Jon turned around back to me and a pleased smile sat on his face. I laughed loudly, making him let out a small chuckle.
"Impressive Mr. Toews," I teased.
He laughed and shook his head. "I heard her earlier saying something about someone and, since you were the only one in the store at the time, I kind of figured she was talking about you."
"Well thank you," I grinned.
"So... do you want me to sign your jersey?" He asked again.
I nodded. "Let me pay for it first."
"No. It's on me,"
I shook my head.
"Really, let me get it. It is my jersey after all," he winked.
"Okay," I sighed "only because you're Jonathan Toews. Anyone else, I wouldn't have accepted it,"
He smiled and motioned for me to give the jersey to him. I handed it over. I smiled as he wrote something on it, then handed it back to me, our hands touching.
I blushed. "Thank you, Jonathan, really. No one has ever done something like this for me, especially not a professional hockey player."
"It really is no problem, and I got a chance to talk to an amazingly beautiful girl," this time it was him that turned bright red.
"Toews, let's go! The signing is gonna start soon!"
I looked over seeing a man a little older than us tapping his watch. Jonathan nodded and turned, kissing my cheek quickly, then leaving to the table. He sat down, a smug look on his face.
My eyes got wide and I slowly walked out of the store.
I can't believe that just happened.
A thought hit me as I slammed my car door shut. It took him awhile to just scribble down his signature.
I flipped the jersey over, seeing more than just his name in the top section on the '1'.
(Y/N), it was nice talking to you. Maybe I could take you somewhere sometime? Love, Jonathan Toews ;) xxx-xxx-xxxx
