Gumayusi, elated from the previous evening, strutted through the hallways of the company building, his joy evident to all who passed by. However, this radiant mood was swiftly punctured when he received a curt summons to Faker's office.
Pushing the large wooden doors, he was greeted by Faker's stern gaze. Wordlessly, Faker slid a folded newspaper across the table. The bold headline read: **"Gumayusi's Secret Romance: Is Company's Golden Boy Dating His Secretary?"**
Gumayusi's eyes widened. He wasn't ready for this. Not yet.
Faker, pinching the bridge of his nose, said, "Really, Gumayusi? I expected better discretion from you."
Attempting to salvage the situation, Gumayusi said, "Hyung, it wasn't a date. I was just getting Oner a suit for the gala."
His older brother, not one to be easily fooled, tossed a couple of photographs onto the table. The first depicted them sharing a cozy dinner. "What about this?"
"We got hungry after the tailor," Gumayusi replied a bit lamely.
Faker simply raised an eyebrow and unveiled the next image. It showed the intimate movie scene with their fingers intertwined and a stolen kiss captured for all to see.
Gumayusi gulped, his throat suddenly dry. "I... I can explain."
Faker sighed, his tone more serious. "Look, if you have feelings for Oner, that's your business. But remember, every action of yours reflects on this company. Moreover, think about how this looks for Oner. The media will devour him, suggesting he climbed the corporate ladder through... other means."
Horror dawned on Gumayusi's face. The last thing he wanted was Oner's reputation tarnished because of him.
Panicking, he blurted, "I don't love Oner!"
His declaration hung in the air, echoing loudly in the room. The atmosphere turned icy when the door creaked, revealing Oner with a crestfallen expression, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
Gumayusi's heart sank. He reached out, but Oner shook his head, his voice choked, "There's a meeting in ten minutes. Excuse me." He left, the weight of his hurt palpable.
Guilt gnawed at Gumayusi. Ignoring Faker's disappointed gaze, he raced out, desperate to fix the mess and hoping he hadn't irrevocably broken the bond he and Oner had just started to forge.
