After leaving the stuff that wasnt important into my room I exited the mansion and headed with Romeo towards the SUV. He's going to be the one to drive to the location and then wait a couple of houses down to take us.
"Lonzo really doesn't give a fuck about his own son." I say out of a sudden as we get into the SUV.
Roman sighs "He's just like this. You'd think, considering Kai's his own kid, he'd care about him or at least be just a little concerned but that's Lonzo for you." I didn't respond as Romeo continued "Kai's a good guy, despite what my uncle thinks."
I nodded once as we drove off towards the location Kai is being kept in. I couldn't share the feeling that Kai needed more than just saving, he needed someone who gave a damn about whenever he made it out alive.
Romeo parked the SUV a safe distance from the warehouse and stayed inside and waited for me to come back.
I checked my gear one last time, securing my two knives and slipping my silenced gun into my tight holster. My dark clothing helped me blend through the dusk.
I moved swiftly but silently toward the perimeter, my senses on high alert. The ears were using the warehouse as a temporary base. Whether or not Kai was inside remained to be seen.
The fence was guarded by a single man who looked to be in his late thirties. He was smoking a cigarette, looking at his phone screen occasionally.
I approached from the shadows, couching low behind a stack of pallets until I was close enough to my target.
With a flicker of my wrist, the knife was in my hand, the blade flashing in the dim light as I lunged towards, wrapping a hand around his throat while pressing the knife against his skin with the other. "Drop the phone," I whispered into his ear.
The man's body froze against mine in fear "Hey, take it easy!" He hissed
"Quiet." I ordered, pressing the blade until it drew blood. "How many more are inside?"
"Eight maybe ten. I'm n-not sure. They're in the back, playing cards. That's all. I swear!"
"Anyone else on patrol?" I asked
He shook his head quickly. "No- just m-" I didn't let him finish as I slit his throat. His motionless body falls to the floor with a quiet thud. I dragged his body behind the stack of pallets I was just hiding behind and quicky jumped over the fence, landing soundlessly on the other side.
I stayed low as I approached the building, hugging the shadow of the wall. There weren't that many lights and I could hear muffled voices from inside.
I went to a side entrance, it looked like it hadn't been used in years. I picked the lock quickly and opened the door. It gave a soft groan as it swung open.
Inside, large sections of the space shrouded in darkness. Things were arranged haphazardly, creating a maze of sorts. In the far corner, were the group of men, sitting around a table, arguing over a card game. The noise masked my entrance as I slipped inside.
My gaze swept the room looking for Kai but he was nowhere to be seen. They wouldn't be so dumb they kept him in plain sight. There had to be another chamber, or a basement of some sort.
Then my eyes landed on a door that looked remotely secure to hold someone against their will. I'll have to get a closer look but it would be tricky.
I crept toward the crates, using them as cover as I approached the door when I voice called out from behind me, making me freeze. "Who the fuck are you?!" The angry voice called.
I soun around, lunging for the man who was just a few feet away from me, holding out a gun in his hand. I knocked the gun to the side just as it fired, the bullet ricocheting off some metal. I grabbed his wrist and twisted forcing him to drop the gun then elbowed him in the throat. He stumbled back as I delivered a kick to his head, sending him to the cement floor.
The commotion drawn the attention of the others and shouts filled the warehouse. I cursed under my breath. Fuck the plan with being discrete.
The man drew their guns and scattered for cover. I darted towards the door. Firing a few shots to keep them at bay.
I slammed my shoulder into the door a few times, bursting inside.
The room was cramped and dimly lit. In the back of the room, bound to a metal chair, with duct tape across his mouth was Kai.
His eyes widened when he saw me, struggling against his bonds. I quicky slammed the door closed and dragged the old closet Infront of it to buy us some time.
I hurried over to him, gun still in my hand and tore off the duct tape off his mouth. His face, hair and clothes were covered in blood. His shirt was ripped and he had a huge purple mark on his cheek.
I cut through the rope securing his wrists and ankles and then stood up. "We need to move, we don't have much time." I said, pulling him to his feet. My eyes were scanning the room, looking for something that could help us as the men started breaking open the door. Shouts were coming from the other side, making my heartbeat go crazy.
Kai stumbled slightly, placing a hand on the wall for support. His legs were unsteady after days of confinement. "Who- who are you?" He asked, his voice was raspy, probably from the lack of water.
"Talking later, can you walk?" I asked as I hurried towards the window I spotted and tried to open it.
He nodded, though he clearly was weakened. "Yeah, I think so." I nodded, finally managing to open the rusty window. I held out my hand to him.
"Go through there." I said. He nodded and with my help he swung his leg over the edge and just as he was about to be completely out, the door burst open.
I didn't wait and I shot first, then threw a quick glance at Kai who was out. Right before the rest came storming in, I jumped out the window, quicky getting to my feet and putting Kai's arm over my shoulder, supporting his weight and broke into a sprint. "Hold on!" I yelled as I hurried towards the fence, shooting back occasionally.
As we reached the fence. A bullet whizzed past us, narrowly missing Kai's head. I fired back a couple of times before interwing my fingers together. "Jump over, hurry!" I says as he placed his foot in my hands and held my shoulders for support. I hauled him up and then jumped too.
I groaned as I fell on my arm. Kai kneeled beside me, helping me up. "Are you okay? He asked, his eyes scanning my body. I nod as I grabbed his arm and lead him towards where the car and Romeo were.
"Yeah, let's go, the car is parked a couple of streets down." He nodded and we jogged towards the car.
When the SUV reached my vision, Romeo was already coming towards us, looking between the two of us. "Kai!" He said, relief filling his voice.
"Romeo!" Kai breathed. Their arms wrapped around each other in a tight hug. I felt uncomfortable just looking at them so I quietly made my way inside and slipped into the passages seat and closed my eyes.
I took a deep breath and exhaled. I fucking did it!
