The SUV sped along the dark, winding road that led away from the warehouse. My eyes flickered between the rearview mirror and the road, checking on Kai who was in the backseat, slumped back, with his eyes closed while Romeo was driving. "Hell of a rescue, huh?" Romeo said with s grin despite the adrenaline that still coursed through the air. "Didn't knew you had it in you, princess." I rolled my eyes.

"It's literally my job. And let's hope there won't be any surprises tonight." I felt Kai slightly shift in his seat, glancing at me.

"What's your name?" He asked.

"I'm Mila, your father hired me." I reply. He nodded and something crossed his face that I couldn't read. "You're safe now. We need to get to the mansion before those guys regroup."

He chuckles. "Safe. I wouldn't go that far. Who even were those guys?"

"Your father told me they go under the name of the Bears. It seems they were keeping an eye on you."

Romeo's face turned serious. "Kai you've gotta stop getting yourself in these situations. Your running out of lives and I'm not sure how many rescues Lonzo us willing to bankroll."

"Trust me, this wasn't part of the plan." Kai snapped, irritation clear in his voice. "I was just having fun at a club like a normal person and the next I'm thrown in a van with a bag over my head. What am I supposed to do? "

"You could start being more careful." I stepped in " You've made yourself an easy target, vulnerable. You probably were drunk at a club, with your guard down and that was the perfect moment." Kai fell silent looking out the window, clearly angry at both of us.

The SUV continued to rumble along the road, the silence that followed punctuated only the hum of the tires. I took a deep breath and turned in my seat to look at Kai. If he felt my stare he didn't look in my direction. "Look, I'm not saying it's your fault but you need to be more careful in the future. You can go to a club or wherever you want but try to have someone with you who can look out for you."

His jaw tightneded before sighing and turning his head to me as he says quietly. "I'm sorry. It's just..."

"I know, it's okay. At least everything turned out fine." His deep green eyes stare at me before giving ,e z tight smile.

"And thank you, for you know. Saving my ass." I chuckle and nod before returning back into my seat.

The road narrowed as we neared the outskirts of Bianchi estate and the gates appeared into the distance. The guards at the gate recognized the car and opened the gates for us.

Kai opened his door and climbed out, clearly exhausted. Romeo and I followed after Kai and headed towards the front door.

Just as Kai reached the door handle, it swung open, revealing Lonzo standing in the entranceway. "You took your time," he says dryly, his gaze focused on me.

Romeo tensed beside me and walked to stand beside his cousin. "He was nearly killed there, uncle." Lonzo's eyes flickered to Romeo, a subtle challenge in his gaze.

"I didn't send Mila for a dramatic entrance, I sent her to resolve a problem. And here he is." He said modding his head towards his son. Kai visibly tensed but didn't say anything, keeping his head down. "Do I need trouble from you too, Romeo? I could easily send you back to your family and we all know how pleasant that would be."

Kai's jaw clenched, anger rising I'm his eyes. "Nice to see you too, dad. Glad you're worried about me." Lonzo's expression didn't change.

"You've always been reckless, Kai. If you want to live long enough to inherit something, I suggest you start acting like your brother, a true heir of the Bianchi name." Before things escalated I stepped in.
