But the corruption didn't stop there. It wasn't just the politicians who were tainted by the stain of corruption. The sheriff, entrusted with upholding the law, had surrendered to the allure of easy money and power. Human and drug trafficking flourished under his watchful eye, the streets becoming a battleground for rival gangs fighting for control of the booming trade.
And then there was the mayor 80 years old refusing to retire, with a smile as fake as his promises. Behind closed doors, he brokered deals with the devil, his hands stained with the blood of innocents. Money flowed like water through his fingers, disappearing into the gap of his insatiable greed.
Meanwhile, the streets of Lake City were overrun with gangs and street thugs. Every other day a trap house was getting hit by petty dope dealers. Prostitutes prowled the night like vampires, preying on the vulnerable and the weak, their unsatisfiable hunger driving them to suck the lifeblood from every human vessel they encountered.
