🍎 The Garden | Kanae Kocho x Y/N 🦋

She was like a sweet flower, a butterfly. So pure and happy, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. That was how Y/N L/N fell in love with her. She had met them during Final Selection for both of them, and worked together to stay alive, but as Kanae quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming Hashira, Y/N was still at Kinoto ranking, which was the third strongest ranking. Kanae still cheered Y/N on and encouraged them to persevere, no matter what.

"Oh, good morning Y/N-San!" her sweet, melodic voice rang out, interrupting you from your thoughts. You turned around to see Kanae hugging you tightly. You were around her size, but you almost lost your balance.

"H-hello Kanae-Sama." you said in return, offering a gentle, small smile. She opened her eyes and grinned even wider, her cheeks a light shade of pink. Yours were almost as red as your tomato's.

"What are you doing?" she asked, as she released you from her hug. You glanced back at your tomatoes. You were planting a garden, with vegetables and even flowers. "I'm growing some plants, though some are ready to be harvested. It's a small hobby I've been doing for the past few months." You said, returning your gaze to Kanae. Her eyes lifted wide open in surprise and excitement. "Can I help?" she asked, at awe at all the plants you grew thanks to your hard work. "Of course Kanae-Sama." You replied.

Since Kanae was a Hashira, you both didn't spend much time together anymore, so whenever you both had a break, you two would usually spend time together, with Kanae's little sister Shinobu sometimes tagging along. Kanae worked on the tomatoes while you focused on the potatoes (I don't know what crops were in Japan during the Taisho Era, so I'm sorry if some of this is incorrect! A lot of this I had to google 😅) You both put the vegetables in the baskets, and soon, two baskets, one with tomatoes, and the other with potatoes, were filled.

"Do you want to plant some turnips now?" You asked, holding up some turnip seeds in your hands. "Of course Y/N-San. Gardening is very enjoyable!" she said, becoming more cheerful and excited. You nodded and smiled, blushing once more.

She took some seeds from your palms and sat alongside you. You both dug a few inches into the dirt until you finally buried all of the seeds into the ground, and you both sighed contently. By the time you both cleaned up, the sun was beginning to set. You both had been working for a few hours. "Time goes by fast, right Y/N-San?" Kanae said, smiling wide once more. "Indeed it does, Kanae-Sama. Do you want to work on the garden next week?" you offered, hoping she would say yes.

"Of course! Maybe we could even plant a small garden at my estate too!" she said, very enthusiastic at the idea. You smiled softly, gazing at her with adoration.

Suddenly, an idea of your own came to you. You walked over to your garden and picked a beautiful pink flower, the best one out of the few, and walked right back to Kanae. "Y/N-San? What are you-" she paused, a small gasp interrupting her sentence as she saw the gorgeous flower. You had caught her sneaking glances at these few flowers, which you had been growing for quite some time. You placed it in her hair, beside her ear, close to her butterfly pins. Her face blossomed into a shade similar to the flower, and she struggled to speak. "T-thank you Y/N-San. This flower is beautiful." she finally said, looking up at you with a gentle smile to match your own.

Before you could say anything, she leaned forward and kissed you. You were shocked, but soon returned the kiss. Your hands ran through her silky hair until they landed on her waist, while hers crept up your back. You both pulled closer together, deepening the kiss. You closed your eyes, your cheeks burning.

"Nee-San? Are you in here-" Shinobu's voice rang out, and both of your eyes were wide with shock. You both flew off each other, your faces as red as the tomatoes Kanae picked today. Shinobu stood near the garden, her eyes wide in shock as she clearly saw the scene before her. 

She rushed toward you with murderous intent in her eyes. "How dare you kiss Onee-San! I'll have you hung if you break my sister's heart or do anything else to her!" Kanae held her back as she flailed in her arms. You and Kanae both giggled, your cheeks still pink, as Shinobu yelled out more threats to you if you hurt her sister.
