A/N: I'm watching a new show and I got inspired. I really like this one because it hits super close to home, so I hope you like it. This is an AU so the characters are definitely OOC. Hope you like it as much as I do!!!

Scott kissed Mitch softly and longingly again, making his boyfriend smile against his lips. They pulled apart when Mitch pushed lightly on Scott's chest and giggled.
"What?" Scott asked with a confused smile. They were behind Scott's family's old bike shed.
"Nothing, it's just... It's kind of hot, isn't it? Being all sneaky like this," Mitch played with Scott's collar and looked up at him through his eyelashes.
Scott's stomach fluttered and he swallowed hard. This relationship was new, his first relationship ever, and Mitch was driving him insane. It's laughable that Scott hadn't had a relationship before the age of sixteen; but with the family he has, it's understandable.
Scott's family aren't bad people, they mean well. His family is... complicated. If one had to describe them, the words 'tough', 'wild', and 'resilient' would come to mind, along with many others. Scott has three brothers, one older and two younger. With three boys in the house, it can get messy, and it does. But they stick together and defend each other at all costs despite the fighting and yelling.
Scott loves his family, but they come on a bit strong. Scott already has a wacky family that separates him from the herd, he's not about to separate himself from his family by telling them he likes boys. They wouldn't kick him out or anything; things just wouldn't be the same. They'd treat him differently.
Scott kissed Mitch and nibbled his lower lip chastely, "You think?" Mitch nodded, "Mm hm," he breathed. Scott leaned in to kiss Mitch more, but the boy exclaimed as his eyes widened, "Oh! I almost forgot to tell you!" Scott cocked his head curiously, only slightly disappointed at the lack of make out going on.
"There's a neighborhood barbecue this Saturday and there's going to be live music and burgers and dancing and all the kids will be there playing, it sounds so fun!" Mitch exclaimed happily, almost jumping up and down. Scott could always count on Mitch to be happy about something. It was adorable.
Scott smiled, "Sooo?" He rested his forehead on Mitch's, making him laugh cutely.
"Sooo you're gonna be my 'hot date'" Mitch smirked and giggled, adjusting the collar of Scott's button-down for effect.
Scott chuckled and shook his head, "Are you sure?" Mitch nodded and smirked, "Yeah, why?" Mitch guffawed.
Scott knew that he couldn't just go to a barbecue with some boy his parents have never met and have it pass. Not only would his parents question Scott's relationship with Mitch, but they'd question why Scott wanted to go, because otherwise, Scott wouldn't want to go.
"Well, Mitch, the whole neighborhood will be there, and-" Mitch cut him off with a hand to his chest.
"Oh! Oh, of course, I'm sorry. God, I'm stupid-" Scott started to interject, but Mitch continued.
"I'll just go alone, it's fine." Mitch smiled and kissed Scott's cheek. Scott slouched against the shed feeling guilty.
Later at supper with his family, Scott still couldn't shake off what happened at the bike shed with Mitch. He pushed at his mashed potatoes and took a small bite before putting his fork down. He looked up at his mom and asked quietly, "Hey mom?"
His mom replied with a full mouth, "Mm- What? What d'you do?"
"Nothing! It's just... Did you hear about the neighborhood barbecue?" Scott would have continued, but his mom's eyes lit up and she put her utensils down before wiping her mouth and clearing her throat.
