Oh, it wasn't easy getting Levi out of his shell. And knowing what he's gone through, he has every damn right to feel that way. He's lost so many people close to him, it makes sense why he would shy away from anybody who tries to get close with him. And I definitely understand why he'd be harsh while doing it too- he can't afford to get attached to anybody in the cruel world he lives in.

Even with you, he found himself doing everything possible- even avoiding you at some point- to not get attached or notice the slight spark in his stomach when he saw you. The issue with avoiding you is the fact you both work together.

He was under your watch when he came from the Underground, he trained under you and learned a lot from you. Erwin even caught you giving him lessons about basic politics and education that he was never received in the Underground. He couldn't just ignore the person who taught him a lot of what he knows now.

With time, he became captain of his own squad, and unfortunately you both became busy with your own tasks. Every now and then, he would look for your head of hair in the busiest of times in the Mess Hall, he would sometimes reserve a seat for you during meetings, he even made you tea- but that was a rare occasion.

Levi's favorite thing about you was the fact you were patient- something he had to learn more about when he came out of the Underground. You were ever so patient with his hot-head. He liked that you were forgiving as well, he would never take your forgiveness for granted and he did everything possible to not make you disappointed or frustrated.

With that being said, it wasn't exactly like that when he first met you, and understandably so. In hindsight, he's able to be appreciative you were persistent with teaching him basics.

I also imagine Levi to be very stubborn. He would never admit he tolerates you out of everybody else around him and plays it off when you mention it to him. A part of me also thinks the reason he may be awkward with gestures such as, 'I appreciate you for teaching me this,' is because he's unsure of how to say it in his own words. A lot of praise and encouragement is foreign to him, so he rarely- like out of this world rarely- ever does it.

When he does, just try to understand he's doing his best, and that's all I could ever ask for.
