The smell of rubbing alcohol and cleaning products burned his nose. The chair he sat on was hard and groaned every time he moved.

The air was cold..

Was it the presence of roaming spirits or just that the hospital's air was on full blast to keep germs from spreading?

Either way, Takashi hated hospitals. The nauseous feeling you get when you walk the halls, the smells and sound.

The sounds.. nurses talking amongst one another. Some talk of their tired state, others of patients that were terribly sick.. a handful talked about those who passed.

He hated the sounds. Even the one that was supposed to be providing him comfort.

The heartbreaking sound he tried to pay attention to was the calming beep of your heart monitor. He watched the little lines and prayed that they would stay in a constant rhythm. No weird jumps or flat lines..

Takashi jumped when a bright flash went off by the window he sat by. The sound of thunder shook the room and fat heavy raindrops banged against the window.

It was like time had turned a few years back and he was 5 again. Standing in your room, in blue foot pajamas with small green lizards on them.

He chuckled to himself as he looked out into the hospital's parking lot. Watching the people at the bottom run inside. "Remember when Mom started staying out all night for work? It was raining like this and I couldn't find her. I was so scared and found myself running to your room when the biggest bang made the windows and doors shake."

He turned back to look at you. "You were already sitting up in your bed. Waiting for me.. You didn't get mad or anything. You just patted at the empty side of your bed and waited for me to get in."

Another loud bag went off behind him. The rain sounded like it began to pour heavier..

"You started reading to me. Remember? The story about the little mouse who wasn't like the others? He didn't like to play rough or get dirty.. He liked to touch soft things and sew?"

Takashi playfully scoffed. "It's probably your fault I am the way I am.. Or did you just know? You knew I was the mouse.."

He finally looked up at your broken face with watery eyes. "I need you to wake up Y/n.. Please.."

His eyes traveled to your stomach and he let out a stuttered breath. The tears flowed as the doctor's words repeated in his head.

He couldn't believe it..

The good but shocking news was--

You were pregnant. Pregnant with twins.. He was going to be an uncle!

And by some grace of God the twins were just fine. Takashi even got to see them moving around on a small monitor. Heart beats still fast and strong, though to him it sounded like the poor babies hearts were going to explode.

The doctor had a theory that once you saw the car coming towards you. That you may have curled in on yourself, you had probably wrapped your arms tightly around your stomach. He said weirder things have happened when mother's get an adrenaline rush. There have been stories of mothers lifting cars off their babies just to save them. Mother's just had this unexplained power that science can't even figure out.

His big sister.. a mother. And you used your power to save them..

It sort of made sense to him. It would explain why your arms were the most damaged out of your body. Broken and bruised.

And sadly there was also your concussion. You had hit your head pretty hard on the hood of the car. Despite all that the doctor reassured him that you'd eventually wake up. Your body was just exhausted right now.. But the longer you took. The more he worried.
