Chapter 7: A Cold Feeling

Grace's POV

We arrived at Ginny's and Jeremey killed the engine. "Okay, let's go eat! I am starving." he said and got out of the car.

"What time is it?" I asked.

'Dusk' looked at his phone and said, "7."

"Oh..." dad must be heading back from work. I should text him I don't need dinner. I took my phone out and started texting him.

"Updating the boyfriend?" Elio asked.

"What no! I am texting my dad that I don't need dinner." I said and sent the message.

"Ohh."

The rest of us got out and headed in. The place looked even better now after the remodel.

"No kidding." I said as I looked around.

"I know right! Ginny did a really good job remodeling the place." Elio said.

We sat at our usual booth and looked at the menu. Elio was sitting beside me and Jeremey in front with Dusk to his side. The place might be remodeled but the food still smelt the same coming from the kitchen. A waitress came, took our orders and went.

"Do you have a curfew Grace?" Elio asked.

"Nope, just have to inform dad." Just as I said that my phone buzzed. I checked my phone to see that I had received two messages. One was my dad acknowledging my message and saying he will be running a bit late and it was great that I was eating outside, the other message was from Casey, 'You bitch, do we not exist to you anymore?' was texted in the group chat I have with her and Emma. Shit, I haven't even talked with them after I reached here. I quickly texted a reply 'Ooppies, hey guys! I am fine and breathing well. How are y'all?' with that being sent I put my phone back on the table and got back to focusing my attention to my surroundings.

"-n." Elio finished and the boys stared at me with wide eyes.

"What?" I asked confused.

"Well..." Elio started.

"She didn't hear it leave it." Jeremey said.

"What?" I asked a bit annoyed.

"Nothing." Just as Jeremey said our food came.

I was so hungry I started devouring the food that I ordered. After taking a few bites, I looked up to see Dusk looking at me and then smiling and taking a bite at his food. Is the boy impressed with the way I eat?

"Grace, don't they have food in America or what? Why you eating like your mama never fed you." Jeremey asked.

I just made a face at him and continued eating. My phone started ringing and it was my mom.

"Hey mom!"

"Hi honey, how are you doing?"

"Good good. And you?"

"I'm fine too."

"Say hi for me as well." my stepdad shouted from the back.

"You heard that?"

"Yes mom, say hi back." I chuckled.

"She says hi. Anyways what did you do today, tell me all about it."

"Can I call you later mom? I am still out with the boys."

"Oh, who all?"

"Elio, Jeremey and his cousin."

"Oh okay, enjoy. Have you informed your dad you will be out late?"

"Yes mom. No worries."

"Okay bye, love you."
