Grace's POV

"Grace?"

I slowly opened my eyes and saw dad's face right above mine.

"Hey dad." I said as I got my from my sleeping position. I sat up and brushed my hair away from my face and looked at him.

"Awww my baby, you look so worn out." Then imagine how Joel must be?

I sighed, pulled my legs to my chest and placed my head on my knees

"Wanna go for a trail?"

My head shot up. "Really?" I asked excitedly.

Dad and I always go to a near by forest every time I visit, it is the prefect place for a good trail.

He chuckled. "Yeah."

*An hour later*

The drive to the place itself was a beauty. Dad and I listened to songs and he was telling me stories of how he got back on his feet after things ended my mom. It was comforting to know he knew exactly what I was going through. We reached the place and he killed the engine.

"Okay kido, grab your bag and lets get going."

The trail was just breath taking as I remembered it. I took a few clicks here and there and talked with dad along the way. We both knew a secret spot here that will overlook the town and sea, once we reached there we unpacked and ate lunch in peace.

I took a bite at my sandwich and looked into the distance, the view was amazing. But no matter how far I thought I had gotten away from my pain that empty and lost feeling was right there in my chest.

"Dad, I don't know who I am without him." I had focused my future plans around his. We planned on getting married 2 years into our careers, get a dog and a cat, then have 3-4 kids. I was at ease knowing that I finally found a good guy to settle down with. Now all those plans and promises are never gonna happen, and it made me feel lost.

"You were a person before you met him, find that person again."

After those words rolled out of his mouth I had hope. He is right, I was an independent woman before him and I can be her again. Though getting there seems impossible from where I am now; broken and lost. I know eventually I will get there, with time.

*3 hours later*

We got back home around 7 and dad suggested we watch some good old chick flicks. I chuckled, he was cute for trying his best to get me out of my misery. We watched Mean Girls, Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, and Clueless. In between we ordered and ate Pizza. The whole night was just prefect. I was in a way grateful for the break up, I got to spend some quality time with my dad.

*The next morning*

We both had fallen asleep on the couch and I woke up to the sound of the doorbell ringing. I turned to see that dad was fast asleep. I was really surprised he was still sleeping and not back to work in his study. I wonder when was the last time he might have slept in like this. Maybe he needed yesterday just as much as I did.

Again the doorbell rang and I started mental cursing the person who decided to drop by this early in the morning and almost woke up my dad's peaceful sleep. I hurried my way to the front door before the bell rang again.

"Dusk?"

"Oh hey Grace." he beamed.

"Hey... what are you doing here?" He is the last person I expect to find on my doorstep.

"I actually came over to talk with your dad."

What? Why? He read my confused expression and chuckled, "Remember day before yesterday at breakfast he asked if I could get him in touch with my dad, well I came over to get them acquainted over video call and be on my way."
