Bahrain race day
It was finally the day of the first race of the season, and I had spent the evening prior literally dying. I had been feeling sick, and I threw up so much that I barely slept an hour, but I wanted to go and support Charles and my brother, so I tried to pull myself together for the race. I took a long, warm shower to try and calm myself down, then I did my after-shower routine, did my hair and makeup, got dressed, and walked back into the bedroom.
Charles had already left for breakfast, so I got my things and headed downstairs. Since he was having breakfast with the team, I sat beside Kika and my brother. After a quick breakfast, I walked over to Charles, who gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. Then we walked out of the hotel, into the car, and drove to the track.
We arrived at the track and walked into the pit. Since Charles had to do a few interviews, I decided to sit down at the cafe and chill for a while. While there, I read some emails, looked at some things for the babies, and did some things for work. At around noon, Charles texted me and told me that he had got us food in his driver's room, and since I was pregnant and starving, I walked quickly to his driver's room.
A few hours later, and the race was about to start, I was sitting in the garage with my headphones on, excited to see the first race of the 2024 season. The lights started going off one by one until they were all finally off, then they started racing. I had to pay attention to my brother and Charles during the whole race, but my brother didn't even manage to finish the whole race, so I was a bit sad for him. On the other hand, Charles was fighting his hardest to get onto the podium. Unfortunately, in the end, he only managed to get into 4th place, which wasn't bad for the season's first race, but I knew he would be a bit disappointed in himself. The team walked over to the podium to cheer on Carlos, and I walked over to where the rest of the drivers were and walked over to Charles. He saw me and gave me a weak smile, so I walked over to him and hugged him. He held me close like he didn't want to let me go but eventually he did.
Y/n- You did really well, Charles; at least you finished the race.
Charles—Yeah, but I could have at least gotten third. I mean, I am proud of Carlos, but I still wish I was up there right now.
Y/N—I know. How about tonight we find a nice sushi restaurant to go to and just have a chill night? What do you think?
Charles- You know what would be even better? Ordering sushi and having a movie night in our room, plus we leave early tomorrow morning and I have a long week ahead.
Y/N—That sounds perfect. I am going to talk to Pierre, and then when you are ready to go, just give me a call, and I will come.
I gave him a quick hug, then walked over to my brother. I talked to him for a while since he wasn't feeling the best, and I tried to cheer him up as much as possible. An hour later, Charles called me to go out to the car since he was ready to leave, so I said my to Pierre and Kika and walked out. I got in, and Charles drove us back to the hotel. While he showered and unwind from today's race, I ordered our food for us, got cooked sushi and just waited for Charles to finish getting ready. After he left the bathroom, I walked in, took a shower, did my after-shower routine, got into my pajamas, and walked back out into the bedroom. Charles went down to get our food, and while he did that, I picked out a movie for us to watch.
After dinner and the movie, I got under the cover since I was cold, and Charles lay down next to me. He looked like he had something on his mind, so I just let him think for a while until he was comfortable opening up with me.
Charles- Y/n, I am scared.
Y/n- From what?
Charles- Becoming a dad, what type of father will I be? Will I be good enough? Will I have enough time for them? I don't know. I have a lot of things running around my head at the moment, and nothing can go into place.
I sat up and moved closer to him.
Y/N—Listen to me. This is something we weren't expecting, so you have the right to feel this way. We will be there for each other and listen to each other well. You will be an amazing father because you were raised by such amazing people. Your father would be proud of the person you are becoming; I know it.
A tear fell from his eye, and without hesitation, I pulled him in for a tight hug; as I did so, he just let out all of the emotions he needed and started crying. I held him close to me, not letting him go because I wanted him to know that I would always be there for him. I laid down in bed with him still crying on my shoulders, and I just let him let it all out. Soon, the crying became quiet, and I looked down and saw him fast asleep. I didn't move him. Instead, I made sure he was comfortable and covered with a blanket, and I drifted off to sleep.
