A few weeks later.

The races had started again, but since I was too tired and pregnant to travel, I told Charles I would not be coming. He respected my wishes and promised to call me whenever he was away to check on me. They were in Italy this weekend, and I was in full nesting mode at home. I woke up Friday morning bright and early at 6.45 in the morning, got changed, and went on a short walk with Solei. After her walk, I fed her, and while she was eating, I made some food and took all my prenatals. Then, I walked over to the entryway and brought all my packages upstairs into the different nurseries. After all the packages were upstairs, I walked into my office since I had a meeting with my team. After my design meeting with the team, I walked out of my office and into the first nursery I decided to tackle: accident baby/ baby that was not biologically mine/ baby number 1. We chose very neutral furniture for their bedroom and added a few pieces of clutter that resembled them once they were born. I started building the furniture piece by piece, taking long breaks between them because I was getting out of breath. After four long hours, I finished building all the furniture for the first nursery and added a few final touches to make it more homey and personal. The final product was amazing, so I sent a photo to Charles to show him.

Y/N—Hey, handsome, how is the weekend going so far? I finished up the first nursery, and it looks so cute. I'm so excited to meet them both; I can't wait.

Charles—Hello, Cherie. I am doing well. The room looks amazing, my love. I am so proud of you. I miss you.

Y/n- I miss you too, Charlie. Call me tonight.

Charles- Of course, my love.

I put my phone in my pocket and walked downstairs to make lunch since I was starving. I made some pastries and sat on the sofa while eating and watching a few Friends episodes. After that, I cleaned up the dishes, loaded the dishwasher, and let the solei run outside for a while. After I cleaned her up, I walked back upstairs to start Eloise's nursery. I started building all her furniture and placing it in the right spot, and boy, some things were heavy. In some weird way, her room took me more time than the last one, but it worked out in the end because the result was amazing. As I did the last one, I took a picture of the room and sent it to Charles. He had practice at the moment, so I knew he would reply.

Y/n- Ellie's room is done. Call us when you finish off work. Love you.

After a long day of nonstop doing things, I walked over to the bathroom, filled up the bath, added some salts and bubbles, got in, and just let myself relax and let my brain stop thinking for a while. After I got out of the bath, I did my after-bath routine, changed into my pajamas, and walked downstairs.

I was too tired to cook, so I ordered some pizza for dinner because I was craving it. Then, while I waited for it to arrive, I sat on the sofa and cuddled up to Solei and watched some friends while I waited for my food to arrive. After my food arrived, I ate and cleaned up after myself, then walked over to the sofa again and waited for Charles to call me. He called me at around 21.30, and I answered his call immediately.

Charles- Hello Cherie, how are you?

Y/n- I am good, my love, how are you? How was practice?

Charles- Practice was good, but I just missed having you around.

Y/n- It was boring not having you around today; it was lonely.

Charles- Well, I am coming home straight after the race so that we can spend some time together then.

Y/n- Yeah, that sounds amazing. So, do you like the nurseries?

Charles- Yes, they are beautiful. I can't wait to see our babies in them.

Y/N—Yeah, it is very exciting, but I am also scared to give birth. I mean, I don't know what to expect.

Charles- I will be by your side, so don't worry.

Y/N—I know, and I am thankful for you. Now, I am getting tired, and I need to sleep because I have work tomorrow morning. But good luck for this weekend. I know you can do amazing.

Charles- Good night, my love. I will talk to you tomorrow.

I kissed him through the screen, switched off my phone, and walked upstairs into my room. I did my night routine, got into bed, put my phone on charge, and called Solie to come cuddled up next to me. This was the first time I slept alone with Charles in a few months, and I honestly missed him so much. Our relationship might have started as a forced one, but we grew to love each other, and now I can't imagine my life without him. I was lying awake staring at the ceiling when I heard my phone ringing. I picked up my phone and saw Charles calling me on Facetime. I smiled at my phone and picked it up. I smiled at him when I realized he was lying in bed.

Charles- I can't sleep without you next to me. I miss you a lot.

Y/n- I can't sleep either. It feels weird.

Charles- Yeah, I know. I wish that you could have come with me this weekend.

Y/n- I know me too, but it would have been risky.

Charles- I know, my love. Can we stay on call and sleep 'next' to each other?

Y/n- Yeah, that would be nice.

I set my phone up on my phone stand and charged it, then laid my head on my pillow. I drifted off to sleep quicker, knowing that Charles was next to me, even if he was far away.
