The doctors didn't want Sophie to leave the hospital too soon so Saul stuck around for the duration of her stay.

"You don't need this shit hospital food,"he told her, tossing a bag onto her table, "I brought some nice greasy diner food—and some tiramisu courtesy of my mother."

Sophie smiled, "Thanks. I guess the warden has to look after his ward, huh?"

"I do," he winked, "I also brought some clothes and your—whatever this thing is..." He pointed to what Sophie used as a purse. It was a balky messenger bag.

"Oh, that's where I keep my pads, Saul, thanks!"she giggled as Saul turned beet red.

"I even tossed your birth control in there in case these doctors get feisty,"he wiggled his eyebrows.

Sophie sighed. She was still so shy around Saul even though they'd been intimate. How could she be this way?

"Thanks for bringing everything, Saul. I'm sure your brothers were oh so happy about it."

"Fuck them, Sophie,"he frowned, "I told you not to worry about my brothers. How's your head feel?"

Sophie shrugged, "It's OK. I could use some more meds, but the nurse hasn't come back."

Saul glared at her, "It's OK to use the call button, Sophie. It's literally their job to help you here." He pressed the button to alert the nurse that they were needed.

Just looking at her he knew she never wanted to burden anyone. The last ten years had truly been hard for Sophie Swann and her sisters.

"You're still a playboy," she told him pointedly.

"Yeah? You're still a Swann so which one's worse?"He smirked, "Eat before I eat it for you."

"I don't want to owe you,Saul."

"Stop with that bullshit, Sophie. It's getting old. As my ward, I have to take care of you—even if I don't want to."

"You don't want to?"

Saul was about to answer when the nurse walked in.

"Yeah, she needs more pain meds,"Saul told the nurse, "Is she going to be able to go home soon?"

The nurse checked Sophie's vitals and nodded, "I am sure once the doctor takes a look at this head again, she'll be discharged. I'll get the pain meds, though. Are you her husband?"

"Hell no,"Sophie laughed, "Sophie DeMarco. God...."

"Hey, it has a nice ring to it. Fucking better than Sophie Crane."

The nurse looked confused, but Saul sighed, pulling his jacket open and showing her his piece, "My father is Alexander DeMarco so if we can hurry up with those meds?"

The nurse jumped and hurried from the room.

"Show off."

"Tease," his dark hair covered his eyes, slightly and he pushed the strands aside, "Eat up."

Sophie couldn't stop staring at him, though. She'd thought about him while she was here in her room and found out that he'd slept outside the door all night long.

"Why did you stay?" She asked, barely taking a bite of her burger.

"I don't trust your guards so I told Eddie to fuck off."

Sophie's eyes widened and she choked, "You did what?"

"I told Eddie I had it covered so I stood guard,"he said, "Don't worry. I had my men here."
