A Different Me

It was when Conor woke up two days later when the transformation had been completed.

The whole day before, Conor had felt instinctive urges, like he had when he was under the control of the Wyrm. It had sent him prowling ravenously around the castle, snarling at anyone who came in contact with him. He had devoured any meat in sight, growled at one Greencloak and his sheep Spirit Animal unprovoked, and had torn apart his bed ferociously when he had returned to his room.

So when he woke up this morning, instead of being in a nasty mood as he had been the day before, he was utterly shocked to find his fingernails- no- claws on his hands. He bit his lip and yelped in pain. Conor now had very sharp teeth.

"What the-!" He gasped in surprise when he saw his head, which now sprouted a large pair of silver dog-like ears! He ran to the mirror, and found that his hair was grey! Conor had Briggan's signature cobalt blue eyes, and when he looked down, he had a wolf tail! Suddenly, Conor heard a scream from the great hall. He ran out with unnatural speed and skidded to a halt, to be met with a horrifying sight.

All his friends were gathered there, and were part-animal!

Meilin had black panda ears, white streaks in her hair, and silver eyes, which were staring at everybody fearfully. Her hands had claws, and she had a panda's tail.

Rollan's eyes were amber, and he had talons for nails, which were currently drumming against the wall he was leaning on. His hair seemed to be more feathery, but the most unusual part was that the space between his sides and his arms was replaced with feathers, resembling wings!

Abeke nervously played with her leopard's tail, ears twitching. Her once brown eyes were now a piercing violet, and her hand that was now twirling her tail kept retracting its claws.

Raisha's hair was slightly greener, and her eyes were yellow. Her mouth was open slightly as her forked tongue ran over her long, sharp fangs. Her fingernails were the color of jade and very sharp. Scale-like skin patterns ran up and down her arms, skin darkening to make the differences.

Tasha was in a corner, nervously muttering to herself. Her blonde hair was now replaced by whiter, more feathery hair, with piercing electric-blue eyes. Her hands had webbing made of skin strung between them, and her fingernails were black. She also had smaller wing-like things on her arms, a lot like Rollan.

Katalin was looking down at her hands in horror. She had very long fingernails, resembling mink claws. Her black eyes were wide and fearful, and her tail twitched nervously.

Dawson was in the corner, the farthest away from everyone. His dark hair now shot up in a plume, more rough and sturdy. Even from the distance, Conor could see that his skin seemed to be darker, more brown like Rumfuss', which meant his skin was probably tougher as well. Most interestingly, two tusks protruded from the side of his mouth, which he was trying to hide.

Shadow, Worthy, and Jolt ran in, and when they saw everybody, they screamed.

Shadow shouted. "What is going on?!" Worthy put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We can sort this out somehow."

King ran in, and stared, shocked, at everybody. "G- Guys?" He stammered when he found his voice, "W- What happened to you?"

Meilin cocked her hair to one side, touching her ears. "I'm not sure! I felt... Very grouchy yesterday. Almost like being sleep-deprived!" She said, tugging at her snow-white hair. "And then today... I woke up like this!" Everybody nodded. Rollan had a serious face on for once. "I actually think that's everybody's story, right?" He looked around, and everybody nodded. "What do you think, King? King?"

King was looking around nervously. "Has anybody seen Song?" Suddenly, something crashed into the window, sending glass shards flying! When everybody could stop covering their eyes, they saw what appeared to be Song lying on the floor. King looked more relieved than he had ever looked. "Song, are you all right? Song?"

Song rose to her feet, and they gasped. She had piercing, sea-green eyes, her hair was now a dark aqua, and her fingernails were replaced by claws. Along the backs of her arms and shins were orange fins, like Seaspray's (you know, those orange membrane thingies), and she had the same skin-scale pattern Raisha had. When she gasped in shock at the others, she revealed her teeth had been replaced by sharp, dagger-like ones.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU ALL?" Katalin scratched the back of her head.

"That's what we're all trying to figure out." Conor paced back and forth. "Ooh, this is bad. Really, really bad."

Song smiled the best she could. "I mean, it's not all bad. Watch this!" She let out a roar (like Godzilla) that made the ground shake. Abeke stumbled back into Conor, who was behind her at the moment. A faint blush dusted Abeke's cheeks.

"Er, sorry." Conor helped her up.

"It's fine. We have bigger worries right now." Tasha spoke up timidly. "Maybe we should talk to Lenori..."

Meilin knocked lightly on Lenori's door. "Lenori? We need to talk to you." There was no response. "Well, I guess she's still asleep," Meilin said, turning to them, "I think we should wait."

Song began to get impatient. "One, two, three, four, four and- a half... TAKING TOO LONG!" She suddenly ran towards the door and smashed it to bits with one strike. "ANIMAL KIDS, OPEN UP!!!"

Lenori jolted awake and saw the wooden bits on the floor. "Song? What's all this about..." The seer looked at the girl, and the half-animal people standing with her. She gasped. "What is going on?"

Conor stepped forward. "We don't know. We were wondering if you could help us. Or if you even knew."

Lenori stood up, immediately staring at them. "I'll try, but I make no promises. I don't know if I can help you at all."
