Third Person POV-----
"Look! Mother!" Six-year-old Esula giggles as she points to a drawing of her parents.
Her mother turned from the sink and smiled, "What a lovely picture Esu! Why don't you show Papa?"
Esula nodded happily and skipped off to her fathers study. Esula's mother sighed and went back to washing the dishes. They had just finished supper and were getting ready for bed. When Esula's mother finally finished, she looked out of the window... and screamed.
Esula's entire family heard the scream and hurried to the kitchen. "Sukah!" Esula's father shouted, "Are you alright?" Celest, Esula's younger sister, got to the kitchen first and saw her mother frozen in panic while her eyes were glued to the window.
Celest ran over to her mother and tapped her, "Mama?"
Only one word escaped from Sukah Kumo's lips, "Run."
Celest's father stiffened then whispered, "The children are our priorities." Celest's mother finally moved and nodded. "Esula, Celest!" Mr. Kumo took charge, "Hide!"
"But papa! What's going on?" Esula asked while shaking.
Her father was rough, "Now!" Find somewhere safe!" There was a split second of silence. Then a crash. And a scream.
There was a strange creature strangling Esula and Celest's mother. It had gray, shaggy hair and small, beady eyes. A long black tongue hung out of it's razor-sharp toothed mouth. "G-go," Their mother stuttered out.
"Mother!" Both Esula and Celest screeched.
Their father pushed the children out of the kitchen, "We will be fine," He assured them and kissed their heads. Then, he ran back toward the creature.
The last thing four-year-old Celest saw before Esula shoved her out the back door was their small house get crushed by an huge ogre. And hundreds of different creatures pouring into their house.Esula and Celest fled into the forest behind their house. Celest collapsed in a small clearing, dragging her older sister down with her, "S-sister, I-I can't run any longer."
"We have to! Papa told us to find somewhere safe! Here is too close to-" Esula's sentence was cut off by a loud explosion. They both turned around to see the place they once called home engulfed in flames. Esula whipped back around, tears flinging off her cheeks, "Celest. Get up. We must go. For papa." Celest immediately got up and grabbed her sister's hand. And they fled farther. Deeper into the woods.
The Kumo siblings finally found a relatively safe area in the woods after running for nearly 15 minutes. The noise had died down and exhausted, Esula and Celest fell to the ground and observed their surroundings. "There is a s-stream over there," Esula panted while pointing to the right. Celest couldn't say anything, so she just nodded and shakily tried to stand. The sisters helped each other get down to the stream and drank as much water as their little bodies could hold.
After a few minutes of cricket chirping, Celest finally spoke, "What happened?"
"I-I don't know," Esula lied, not wanting to frighten her little sister, "Let's sleep and figure it out tomorrow." Celest, unable to keep her eyes open any longer, nodded and lay down next to Esula. Esula sighed. Tears streamed down her face once she hear the soft, steady breathing of Celest.
"Papa," Esula prayed, kneeling by the stream, "I trust that you are safe with Mother at home. Please don't worry about us. We are fine. Celest, as usual, forgot to say that strange prayer you taught us to say before we fall asleep. But I haven't," Esula continued, "And wheneth gone you shalleth forget but thou shall not worry for one will cometh and begin your new life." Esula felt her eyelids droop, as they always do before she can even try to understand what just said. But this time, as she let sleep take over, she felt her memory slowly dulling.
