Time Skip----- Near end of exam-----
Celest POV-----
Ugh. This is taking way too long. The second test was fun but I hate this one. Like, I know everyone dislikes learning math and science or reading and language arts, but I can't stand school subjects. They make my head hurt so bad. It's also soo boring and I can't even stay still for a few minutes during a magic history with Steacho-chan, and I absolutely love learning magic. I think I did well enough to pass it.. I hope. Alright! I'm done! I lean over to my switch, which I put on the floor to help not distract me, and flick it. Everything started swirling and once I snapped back to reality, my ears were filled with loud noises. I look around to see friends getting together and talking about how the exam went. I hope Esula and I can make some friends soon.
"Eighteen students are still testing," Principal Hastib said.
Hmm I'm going to see if Esula is don-
"Celest! Finally! I've been waiting forever!" a familiar voice said. Yep, I should have expected her to finish quickly. Esula is so perfect. She is really smart, pretty, caring, selfless, and so much more. I wish I were like that. "Did you enjoy that last test, Celestie?" Esula teased.
I groaned, "Urusai." Esula is the only person I've told my hatred of school to.
"My favorite test was the second one," I said, changing the subject.
Esula seemed list in thought, "Who was your instructor for test two?"
"Some lady called Teza-bi," I answered, confused.
Esula kinda looked disappointed, "Oh. Just wondering."
Even though I was still confused, I just shrugged, "What did ur instructor make you do?"
"Just the normal."
"What's the normal?"
"He just told me to like.. attack a power meter and like-" Esula cut herself off and looked like she was about to start sobbing, "H-he m-ade me-," She started crying out pools of water. Is this what happens wheb a water empress cries? I asked myself while looking at at the now-wet shirt I was wearing.
"-k-ki-kill r-ra-rab-its," Esula choked out. I opened my mouth to say something, but Esula started yelling, "He made me kill rabbit after another! Every time I didn't kill it in one hit, that stupid Deanl gave me more innocent rabbits, and I had to close my eyes every time I needed to attack and he would get mad because I'd miss, and, and-"
I stopped her. "Shh shh it's okay," I calmed her. Esula just hugged me and continued to sniffle. Wow I feel like a big sister. Is this what she has to do to me everyday? I knew Esula had a real soft spot for animals, but I didn't know it was this extreme. After a few minutes, Esula quieted and Principal Hastib's voice filled the huge room.
"Alright. Everyone has finished the entrance exam. Before you go, my assistant principal, Dr. Pricila will tell you all something- special- about this school.
A woman around her early thirties walked up to the platform. "Greetings to the possible future students of Secha Kadenue Academy. As Principal Hastib explained, there is something we have forbidden your guardians to inform you about." Silence fell over the area. Everyone seemed to lean in to hear the assistant principal's words, "As you see, there are many, many students here who wish to enroll, right?" Everyone agreed. She continued, "But there are far too many students, even if most of you failed the exam, to enroll into the school. So," she paused, "Only the top fifteen students will actually make it into the school. Sorry for keeping it from you, but we needed you to do your very best." There was a split second of complete silence, then the room erupted in voices in shock. Everyone was panicking, telling each other what would happen if they don't make it in. Wait. Why wasn't I worried? I have just as slim a chance as everyone else in here. Why? No! I can't overthink this or I'm going to hurt myself again. As usual. I turned around, "Hey Esula. Why am I not scared?"
"Dunno," she just said casually. So I'm not the only one who isn't worried. There is barely a chance that we would even get to the top thirty. Sorry Arazu-chan, Steacho-chan, but I guess we'll have to find an school that we can get into easier.
Principal Hastib spoke again and everyone quieted, "Your exam results will be sent to you in two days. Congratulations to those who made it in. I look forward to welcoming you to the school. You are dissmissed." Everyone rushed out with tears, smiles, hope, and disbelief. Esula and I waited until we found a break in the huge crowd. Then we went off to find Aru-chan and Steacho-chan. And ask them to explain.
