Celest POV-----
Esula just left. Our roommates and I were standing there eating her dust. Esula also just did something... impossible. Or at least it was impossible. No human being could physically move that fast in a split second. What-
"Celest!" the girl that had tripped yelled, "Stop!"
And- I was ripping the seams out of my sandals. Aw. They were new. "Sorry, it's a habit," I explained.
"Healer," my other roommate said without expression.
"What?" I asked, curious.
The girl with the auburn hair sighed, "Stea-chan, you promised not to scan anyone until we got home."
"S-scan?" I laughed nervously.
"Oh! You aren't aware! You are a Healer, identified by their strange habits that can hurt themselves. Or you can get scanned by an Identifier, like Stea-chan over here," she gestured toward the expressionless girl.
"Oops! Gomen nasai! We haven't introduced ourselves yet! I'm Arazu Amaidesu, or Aru for short."
"Steacho Yamandi. Non-human Identifier. Age 16." Steacho said.
I was confused, "Um, what's a Non-human Identifier?"
Arazu answered, "It's one of the 2500 different species of magical beings on earth. I'm a Fox Shape-Shifter. And Stea-chan is a Non-human Identifier. You are a Healer and your sister is one of the four different kinds of Empresses. Actually, Stea-chan can find Esula and scan her to find out the specific kind, but it looks like both of you are unaware of what you are-"
"Age: 15. Level: 1. Powers yet to be unlocked." Steacho said. Her eyes were blank but I could see little green characters flash across her eyes.
"Wow!" I exclaimed, "That's amazing Arazu-chan!" Suddenly, I heard a thump outside the door. Curious, I walked over and opened it. "Esula?" I exlaimed.
Esula just rubbed her head and slowly walked over to the left bottom bunk. "U-uhm," she started. "I h-heard everything," she stuttered. Esula's face was as pale as a ghost and she look flustered.
All you could hear in the room for a while was the wheels on the train. Esula tried to break the silence, "S-so! What kind of E-empress am I?"
Steacho's eyes focused on Esula. "Name: Esula Kumo. Species: Water Empress. Age: 17. Level: 1. Powers yet to be unlocked," she said.
"Ooh! Can you do tricks with water! That's awesome!" I exclaimed excitedly.
"I-I don't even know what a Water Empress is!" Esula stammered, still pale.
I spun around to ask Arazu, but she interrupted me, "Why are you guys headed to Genbi?"
I was confused by the sudden question, but Esula answered for me.
"We aren't really going there for a specific reason, but our guardian sent us here to find an education and a job to live off of."
Arazu thought for a little bit, then suggested, "Why don't you guys enroll into our school? It's for magical beings only and ranked number two in the city. And Genbi is a pretty big city with over seventy schools. Four of which are for magic schools. By the way we are number two in both normal and magic schools. Anyways, you guys would fit right in! There are teachers for each species and they also teach normal school subjects. The only downfall is that to enroll you need to pass the entrance exam. It's about what you can do with your magic and physical abilities. Oh and your power level must be at least twenty."
"Umm." was all I could say, "How do you level up your power?"
This time Steacho chipped in. "To gain earlier levels, all you need to do is try out your powers and unlock new spells. Later, when you are more advanced, you must defeat enemies and gain points, which help unlock legendary magic that only a few magical beings in the world have unlocked. Levels become increasingly difficult to obtain as you go on. During the school year you will gain approximately a couple hundred more levels due to learning tons of new material quickly. I highly suggest that you enroll," she said in that flat voice.
"Ooh! We can teach you guys the basics of magic to get you to level 20. The next school year begins in exactly three weeks and five days. We'll get you ready for it!" Arazu said, excited.
And with that Arazu- or maybe I should start calling her Aru-chan- dragged us all over to the tiny table by the window and started eating the noodles she brought. We laughed and chatted for hours. I could tell that this was going to be a long, fun, but dangerous journey.
