•LUTE'S POV•

When I wake up, I feel around for Adam. I remember falling asleep on him but now he isn't here. Maybe he just needed his training robe or something. I check my watch as it reads 7:13 am. I rub the sleep out of my eyes and figure he's probably in the bathroom or kitchen, but once I check the whole house talking out loud hoping Adam would catch on and come say something. Nothing? This is a little bizarre considering how worked up he got when i tried to get home early that day. Whatever i'm just gonna fill up my water and grab my phone. 3 texts from Adam? Cool that'll give me context

A-"Sera called, no training"- 6:43am
A-"don't trip i'll be back to ur place soon" 6:54am
A-"just one more stop and promise i'm omw back" 6:56am

Maybe he had to grab his training robe, and maybe he's grabbing a smoothie or smth. I go to fill up my water cup in my fridge when I see a peice of paper magneted on the fridge.
"Punch card for Lutie cutie patootie to sit on my face :) never expires, can be used infinite times."

I scoff and start blushing, I guess he wasn't joking.

A-"Awwe did my note make you blush sweetie?"

I jump at the sudden words spoken into my apartment, where I thought I was alone. I turn around somewhat upset I didn't hear him come in. When my eyes finally land on him, he has two bags, and an iced and hot coffee.

L-"W-what's this all about?"
A-"I thought you could use a little relaxing day, you were sleeping HARD last night."
L-"Adam! I'm perfectly fine is that why we don't have training today?"

Adam starts to set everything down on the counter, and walks up to me

L-"And what is all this?"
A-"I got you your favorite vanilla latte-
L-"Did u ask for-"
A-" yes of course I got your double shot of espresso."
L-"How did you know that?"

Adam kisses my forehead as I jump up to hug him. He happily grabs me and holds me in the air, and carefully sets me down on the kitchen counter. He starts opening one of the bags he got and he places a take-out box of french toast on my lap.

L-"You really didn't have to, I could've made us these here"
A-" Like you need to be up on your feet today.. You deserve time off, truly you work harder than Sera"
L-"oh i absolutely do not!"
A-"Do too!! You're always filling out reports or gathering powerpoints for meetings and shit, not to mention how much you do for training bullshit."

I just sat quietly bc I know he's right but I only do it to keep things from getting on Sera's desk late.

L-"Thank you very much nonetheless. I really appreciate it."
A-"Did you appreciate my punch card?"
L-"oh shut up you're being silly."
A-" I'll show you how fuckin serious I am, babe"
He said as he leaned over me with his sexy smile.
L-"mayyybeeee but it's too early right now and I wanna enjoy breakfast😋"

As we eat we snuggle on the couch while watching regular show. It really is nice to just sit with him and enjoy his presence without being busy or needing to do something. We just get to relax. Until🙄

A-"Ah, fuck Sera's calling me I'm sorry i gotta take this."
L-"Oh okay no problem"

I have no idea what kind of strings he pulled for us having a frivolous offday, but whatever it was I'm glad he did. Even if it throws us way off schedule.

•ADAM'S POV•

Fuck why is Sera calling me right now? I told Emily to take care of it. Plus she calls the second Lute finally relaxes and gets comfy. Ughhhhh

A-"what? what's the deal? what do u need?"
S-"Adam, this is serious. Why did I awake to a multitude of messages from Emily explaining why you two need a day off?"
A-"Because we DO Sera? Lute is absolutely exhausted with everything going on."
S-"Well you know you're the one putting yourself in this situation Adam. None of this extermination would be going on, if YOU hadn't insisted on it. Now this is serious, what does Emily know?"
A-"Nothing, I told her that Lute and I were exhausted and didn't wanna come in to work. I didn't say training, I didn't say anything about what we're doing I just asked her to ask you."
S-"Why didn't you ask me directly? You know Emily cannot know about the extermination, NOBODY can know about the extermination, what would you have done if she asked you questions?"
A-"I didn't ask you directly bc I knew you'd be on this bullshit! And no I never would've hinted to it to Emily bc I know how sensitive she is especially to stuff like this! I'm not a complete idiot Sera, and i'm really sick of you acting like I am."
S-"Very well then. Since you are so interested in a day off from the work, YOU ASKED FOR. We can schedule a time to make sure you still want to work towards that."
A-"the fuck is that supposed to mean Sera?"
S-"Today, at 4pm. You will be in my office, we will go down to Hell and estimate how much of a threat the sinners unrest is."
A-"What the fuck Sera??? It'd be ridiculous to go down and look at the problem WE KNOW we have? This makes no sense-"
S-"Enough with the profanity, Adam! I said what I said and you will be here at 4pm."

Sera hung up on me. I'm so furious right now I might barge up there right now 6 hours early. Really, what on earth is she thinking?? Questioning ME? Fuck I cannot believe this

L-" What's going on I heard you raising your voice?"
A-"Fucking Sera! I can't believe what she's doing! She's taking me down to Hell today to estimate how much uprise is 'really going on in hell' is she really that dumb?? OBVIOUSLY the SINNERS who want nothing more than to be reckless and dangerous, and MOST LIKELY CAUSING UPRISE, which is the WHOLE reason we exterminate! I'm so mad right now, she told me to meet her at 4 but I don't care, I'm going up there RIGHT FUCKING NOW!"
L-"Adam, you should probably calm down before you go-"
A-"No, I've had enough of her up my ass I wanna go talk to her right now."
L-"o-okay, be safe. How long will you be gone? Can I come with you?"
A-"No. stay here, I don't know how long she wants to be down there. But as soon as I know, you're the first to know, my trusty lieutenant."
I say as I kiss her forehead and leave for headquarters.
