"MOM! COME ON! LET'S GO! EVERYONE IS GOING TO GET ALL THE GOOD CANDY!" My son Caleb said as I came down the stairs and he was dressed and ready.

"You do realize it just started 5 minutes ago and all the candy won't be gone?" I questioned and he just rolled his eyes.

"But mom..."

"Keep whining and we won't go." I said crossing my arms and stopping where I stood.

"Hannah, just go." My mother said and she came up behind me. "You acted the same way, now he is excited, just go."

"Fine, grandma saved you yet again. Let's go." I said kissing my mom's cheek and we headed out the door.

My son was 8 and was so excited for Halloween this year and to go as his favorite character from his favorite...and my favorite television show, Supernatural. He is lucky he isn't named after one of the main characters. I thought about it but then decided against it and named him after my father.

We lived with my parents since Caleb was born since his father was gone the minute the positive sign showed up on the pregnancy test and I didn't know if I could do it alone. I was only supposed to be here for a few years but here we are 8 years later, and we didn't look to leave any time soon.

Caleb and I had our own mini apartment upstairs. My parents had a room downstairs, so we had the whole upstairs to ourselves, my parents even building me our own entrance, but it was barely used.

We walked outside and I saw all the kids dressed up and even some of the moms which made me roll my eyes. I was in a pair of jeans, black tank top and an open orange and black flannel with the sleeves pushed up. It's Dallas, Texas, it's not as cold like it would be anywhere else in October.

As Caleb and I walked we ran into a friend of his and his mom.

"Hey. You guys just getting started?" Lexi asked and I nodded.

"Yeah, I got stuck on a phone call with work." I said.

"It's Halloween." Lexi stated.

"I know, I know...but not a national holiday, they don't care." I said and she smiled. Her son was dressed as my son's counterpart of the show, they decided these costumes together.

"So, Sam and Dean Winchester are on the hunt." Lexi said.

"For Halloween candy." I said and She laughed.

We watched the boys go up to all the neighbors on the street and get candy. No one really knew who they were, and they would just say someone from a show.

"They look like normal kids in their street clothes trick or treating, I knew this would be a problem." I said and Lexi sighed.

"But there was no talking him out of the costume." Lexi said and I nodded.
