I walked into the gala and I knew I was running late and thankfully my brother Chad was already here. I rushed off the elevator and directly to the ballroom.
Troy and I were stand-ins for our parents tonight since they decided to RSVP to two charity galas. Troy and I took UNICEF because it was a cause we both stood behind whole heartedly.
"Shelby! So wonderful to see you!" A lady said as I walked in. I had seen her a numerous amount of times at these events.
"Martha, lovely to see you as well." I said and she smiled.
"I bet you are looking for that handsome brother of yours..." Martha giggled and I plastered on my smile.
"Well I would just say brother but yes I was wondering where he was." I said.
"Right over there at table 5." She pointed and I smiled.
"Okay thank you so much!" I said and started to walk away.
"Make sure he saves me a dance!" Martha called after me.
"Will do." I answered back and got to the table. Troy looked at me annoyed.
"Where the hell have you been?!" Chad whisper yelled at me.
"I had a last minute wardrobe change. My first dress ripped as I was leaving the house." I said and he snickered. "Shut up." I elbowed him in the ribs.
"Ow." Chad grumbled.
"Oh by the way Martha Wilcox wanted me to tell you to save her a dance." I smirked and he groaned.
"That woman is going to be the death of me at these events. She just wants a young man as arm candy." Chad said.
I looked around at the table we were at and there were only a few seats left.
"Looks like I'm not the only one who is late." I said and Chad rolled his eyes.
"Well you had left me alone and that's why I was mad." Chad said and I just sighed.
"Well I'm here now and I will try and save you from Martha as long as I can." I said.
"Oh my god, thank you!" Chad hugged me and I pushed him off.
"Stop it." I grumbled.
As I watched people walk in and walk around I wasn't paying any attention when the chair beside me was pulled out.
"Oh Tom, so lovely of you to be able to join us!" Daphne, a woman at our table said. I looked at the man sitting down next to me and then subtly started punching Chads leg under the table
"What the actual fuck?! Stop." Chad grumbled and I snapped my head to look at him.
"Tom Hiddleston just sat next to me." I whispered.
"I know, and you're welcome. You were originally in my seat. When I got here and saw the seating I may have switched the place cards." Chad said and I just looked at him shaking my head.
