Chapter 14

I call Christina, then slowly one by one. Al my other friends. They all help me. I'm glad. I really want my memory back. And soon.

Knock. Knock.

"Come in" I call.

Joe walks in.

"Hey" he says

"Oh hi joe" I say "look it's fine. I don't need any more information about what I missed. I ca-"

He cuts me off "tris I'm not here about that. I just came to ask if you wanted to go for a walk? I was thinking just a nice relaxing stroll in the park"

I check the time 17:57. "Ok. That would be nice" time to clear my head

Joe smiles. I grab my stuff and we leave the house.

"So.. how have you been?" He asks me

"Well. I don't really know. I've been really confused about everything but I don't really understand it all." I answer

"That's understandable" he answers.

"And you?" I ask as we walk into the park.

"I've been a little confused too." He says

"Why?" I question

"Let's not talk about it for now. Another time" he responds. I don't push him.

"How about a race?" I ask "I bet I can beat you to that try" I point to a pretty over grown tree with a place where you can sit.

"Okay!" He answers

"Go!" I say

We run. I feel so alive. All my worries flying off me in the wind. I love it!! Then I realise Joe is starting to over take me so I get real competitive. I run as fast as my legs can carry me. I run past Joe and make it to the try about 4 seconds before he does.

"Haha! I win!! You lose!!! Nah nah!!" I yell. I'm being really childish but I'm having fun.

He laughs a deep beautiful laugh. "I guess you do" he replies.

We climb into the tree and sit down. We talk and talk. I check my watch 18:47 It's getting dark.

"Let's watch the sunset." I whisper. I don't know why I whispered.

"Ok" he whispers back

I giggle.

It's beautiful. I love the sunset. It's just so calm.

"Orange is my favourite colour. Just like the sunset." He says

I smile at him.

"Look. Tris. There's something I have to tell you" he says

I nod and wait. We are quite close now. Our faces inches apart.

"I... I really like you Tris" he says. Before I have time to answer he leans in and kisses me. I don't pull away. In fact I kiss back. His lips so soft and gentle. Fitting in with mine perfectly. I feel so happy. We stay there. Kissing for what seems like forever. Until reluctantly, he pulls away.

"I really like you Tris" he whispers. "But you are worth Four now"

"No... no I'm not" I say. Still whispering "I've forgotten it all. And I feel so right with you"

"Tris." He says

"Shh. This is what I want. I really like you too"

I lean in and kiss him again. We stay there kissing for God knows how long. The sun has set. When we next pull away, I check my watch. 18:59

"Joe. I have to go. Today has been amazing. Perfect even."

"It has" he answers.

We climb down from the tree and he walks me home. I kiss him quickly good night and run inside.

"Honey! Do you want some dinner?" Mum calls.

"Maybe later mum!" I call back. I'm not hungry right now anyway.

I run to my room and crash on my bed. Things aren't looking to bad after all.
