"Auradon Prep! Orginally built over three-hundred years and converted into a high school by my father when he became king." Ben began walking round a massive statue of the King, Audrey seemingly attached to his arm.
With the rest of us in tow, he clapped his hands twice, and I looked up in shock as the statue morphed from the King into the Beast.
Apparently, I wasn't the only one who was shocked because Carlos flung himself into my brother's arms.
"Carlos! It's okay." Ben chuckled, "My father wanted his statue to morph from beast to man, to remind us that anything is possible."
Carlos cleared his throat awkwardly as Jay dropped him from his arms, fixing his beanie.
"Does he shed much?" Mal asked, looking up at the statue.
"Yeah, mom won't let him on the couch." Ben stated, before a small smile adorned his face and he turned and walked away again.
Mal rolled her eyes, but she seemed amused.
When we walked away, I heard Carlos clap his hands behind me, but to no avail.
"Carlos!" I yelled, making him jump as he hurried to follow.
"So you guys have like a lot of magic here in Auradon? Like wands and things like that?" Mal asked, placing one hand on the elbow of her opposite arm.
"Yeah it exists, of course, but it's pretty much retired and old." Ben shrugged, the same irritating goody-two-shoes smile on his face from earlier when he was talking with Mal.
"Like your dad, then?" I questioned, my face contorting into a smirk as Jay and Carlos began coughing to hide their laughter.
"Um- uh- most of us here are just ordinary mortals." Ben said weakly, trying to change the subject. Behind him, I saw the blue-haired girl lingering by a photo frame, and her face contorted into a horrified scowl at how easilly I could insult the King.
"Who just happen to be kings and queens?" Mal scoffed, but she was cut off by an excited Audrey, clearly delighted to have the opportunity to show off.
"That's true! Our Royal blood goes back hundreds of years." She giggled, taking Ben's hand in her own and moving his arm so that it draped over her shoulder.
He chuckled uncomfortably and then looked up at the staircase beside them, where a boy was hurrying down in the same uniform as I had noticed the marching band wearing.
"Doug! Doug come down." Ben smiled, leaving Audrey's side, which seemed to annoy her.
Doug smiled and descended the staircase, a clipboard in hand.
Why does everyone have a fucking clipboard?
"This is Doug, he's going to be showing you to your dorms. And if you need anything, feel free to-"
"Ask Doug." Audrey giggled, her fake smile almost as fake as her tan.
Mal laughed too, but it was more venomous than real.
Ben shuffled away behind Audrey as Doug took a few steps towards us. "Hi guys, I'm Doug, Dopey's son. As in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy and.... Heigh-Ho." His eyes met Evie's and she stepped forward, her flirtatious smile winning the boy over.
"Evie, Evil Queen's daughter." She placed her hands on her hips as she bit down on her lip.
Each of the VKs had a talent, Jay had his muscle, Carlos was so small he could sneak around unseen, Mal had her mother's name to scare people into giving her what she wanted, and Evie and I had the sometimes extremely difficult task of flirting with anyone and everyone.
