Over night, I figured out how to work the necklace.
Just like fairy magic, the necklace activated on strong emotion, so all I needed to do was think about the hatred I had in me for the current King and it lit up, swirling its gold sand.
I stood by my locker with Mal, who was being thanked by a group of girls for their new hair, and Jay, who had only just arrived.
"Guys?" He asked, "Aren't you feeling kinda weird about this? I mean, it's not so bad here you know." He shrugged.
I frowned at my brother as Mal scoffed, "Are you insane? Long Live Evil! You're mean, you're awful, you're bad news!" Mal snapped.
"Jay wake the fuck up." I hissed at him.
He seemed to understand where we were coming from as he began to smirk.
"Thanks, Mal, Jazzy, I needed that." He rushed off with his tourney bag to get ready for the game just as I saw Audrey, Ben and Ali talking.
"Do you think they paid for those?" Audrey scoffed, pointing at the group of girls.
Ben looked over at the ladies she was talking about and saw Jay flirting with them all.
"They did it to Jane's hair, too, and fairy godmother's not happy about it." Audrey's nose was high in the air, as always.
Ben shrugged, "What's the harm?"
Ali seemed to understand where the Prince was coming from and even he, thought Audrey was overexaggerating slightly.
"Uh, it's gateway magic!" Audrey said as if it were obvious, "Sure it starts with the hair, next you know its the lips, then the legs, then the clothes and then-" She stopped midsentence to pout, "where will I be?'
Audrey took a deep breath as if saying those words had mentally traumatised her.
"I will see you after the game." The princess smiled, kissing Ben on the cheek. "Bye bennyboo."
Ali widened his eyes at Ben behind Audrey's back. "She's very... passionate... about this whole VK thing, isn't she?" He sighed, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Hi Bennyboo!" Mal beamed, slamming her locker to draw the attention of Ben and Ali.
Ali looked opposed to going over until his eyes met mine in a brief stare.
They both walked over side by side, just as Mal pulled out her ziplock cookie bag. Inside, was one of the cookies they had made.
I, however, didn't need one, I had my necklace. Putting on a smile, I took Ali's hand in mine and pulled him over to the glass railing.
He seemed confused, which was exactly what I wanted.
"Look, I wanted to apologise for the way I handled things the other day, and I wanted to give you this back." I reached into my pocket and gave him back his wallet, a couple of bank notes were missing but he didn't need to know that.
He stared at the wallet for a moment and then looked back at me, a smirk on his face, "You're not so bad, Jazzy."
I smiled as he frowned, "Also, why Jazzy? Like- it's not at all an Agrahbian name. Jay is, but Jazzy's not."
My smile faltered slightly, "It comes from Jasmine." I answered truthfully.
"You're named after my mother? That's not creepy at all." He replied sarcastically, laughing.
I giggled, "Hey, you wanna see something?" He nodded as I took out my necklace from its place concealed by my shirt.
"It's an hourglass, just like the one my father trapped your mother in... and look the sand moves..." I focussed my need for revenge into the necklace and just as I hoped, the gold sand began to swirl around inside the hourglass.
