I looked through the crowd of students in the Quad, my head spinning as I tried to process what had just happened.

After the game, Prince Ben had made a whole song and dance about his affections for Mal, and asked her to be his date to Coronation.

Then, totally unexpectedly, the next morning I arrived in Extended English Literature, and there he was with a rose in his mouth.

Prince Ali.

He asked me to Coronation and then he-

"EVIE!" I screeched, my eyes finally finding her blue hair.

She was sat next to Doug, giggling her days away and I would've been happy for her if I wasn't freaking out.

She snapped her attention to me at the call of her name, raising an eyebrow as I rushed over.

"Evie..." I sighed, finally reaching the table.

"What's up?" The Evil Queen's daughter asked, noticeably concerned about my hysteric state.

I took a deep breath before saying, "Well- Ali asked me to Coronation."

The girl smiled, "Good! That was the pl-"

"I WASN'T FINISHED!" I yelled, causing Evie and Doug to stare up at me, taken aback. "And then he asked me on a d-...a um... a date."

Evie's eyes lit up like it was free lunch day at the slop shop.

"Nice..." Doug chuckled under his breath, turning back to his revision with a smirk on his face.

The blue-haired girl waved goodbye to Doug and hurried off to our dorm with me clinging onto her arm as she rambled about outfit ideas.

When it was finally time for Ali to pick me up, I was stood in the mirror, staring at myself.

My dress was a gold bodycon that stopped just above my knee, and I wore a pair of black high-heeled boots and my usual black and red leather jacket alongside it.

My hands and arms were weighed down by masses of bracelets and rings and round my neck was my same hourglass necklace.

I looked elegant, not like a slut or some chick down at Gothel's Girl House, I looked classy.

"I look...." I started, my eyes drifting down my body to take in the difference in my appearance.

"Say it." Evie grinned, resting her head on my shoulder.

I sighed and met her eyes, "Not like- an Isle girl..."

Girls on the Isle dressed bad to get a fling, and I had plenty, but it was to survive, and now I looked so different- so far from having to be that girl again.

"Not even close." Evie shook her head, obviously proud of her work.

The door knocked, and I saw a smirk spread across the blue-haired girl's face as my eyes widened excitedly.

"Shut up." I giggled as she made a kissy face.

I opened the door with one swift motion, only to reveal him stood in the doorway.

Ali stared me up and down before his eyes tore into mine, "You make me weak at the knees, Jazzy."

I scoffed at the cheesiness of his words and stepped out into the hall, closing the door behind me.

"How far can you walk in those?" He asked, pointing at my boots.

"Honey, I can walk for miles in heels." A small devious smile spread onto my face as he nodded and laughed.

He took me out of Auradon Prep, down through the gardens and out into the forest until we came to a stop on the edge of a steep cliff.

One jump off of it could kill either one of us.

I watched as he took a step closer to the edge, my eyes widening as I realised what he was about to do.

"No- Ali-" I began, but he had already jumped, winking at me as his body disappeared from view.

My head reeled with questions, was he okay? What happened? Why the fuck?

But that wasn't the end of the excitement, oh no, it was just the beginning.

I stared at the edge of the cliff with my mouth gaped open just as his head popped up, then his shoulders and then his chest as he rose from the exact place he fell.

It was as if he were floating.

When I finally saw what he was floating on, my heart stopped.

"A magic carpet..." I breathed, staring in awe at the famous Agrahbian myth.

On top of it were sandwiches and fruits and foods I had never laid eyes upon before.

"Do you trust me?" He asked, extending his hands.

I hesitated as I met his gaze with confusion, contemplating his words.

"Do you trust me?" He repeated, a small smile on his face.

My breath had caught itself in my throat as I slowly reached up to take his hand, "Yes."

He guided me up from my place on the ground up onto the carpet, my hand gripping his to maintain my balance.

I sat down with a relieved sigh, happy that I hadn't in fact, died.

"This your first time?" Ali asked, chuckling as I stared around in wonder, taking in everything from the leaves on the trees to the fruits to even the way his hair was almost an ombré of brown and black.

"Oh- uh, we don't really date on the Isle it's more like intense flings or like boyfriend and girlfriend for the fun of it, you know?" I answered, reaching out to pick up a small green berry thing in my hands.

"No- I meant, seeing a flying carpet." He laughed, dangling his legs off the side of the magical object.

"Oh- is it obvious?" I found myself laughing, but why- I didn't know.

"Yeah, kind of." Ali answered, staring up at the clouds.

I groaned as I tried the green berry, my eyes rolling to the back of my head at how sweet it was.

In the mean time, the boy had his hand extended in front of me, in the palm of it, my magic necklace.

"Shit! Where did you find this?!" I gasped, grabbing it quickly and putting it back on. I had been too busy smiling and laughing that I hadn't even realised it was gone.

"You dropped it on the trail and I picked it up." He explained, something in his demeanor completely different.

I tried another green berry.... and another and another until I realised the boy was staring at me.

"What's wrong?" I asked, meeting his eyes again.

"Jazzy... I asked you out and I told you I love you... but- do you love me?"

The pace of my heart quickened in my chest as I had to think about the answer myself.

If I didn't care about him, I would have answered 'yes' quickly, then and there to carry on the ruse for Coronation. But now I had no idea.

"I... I don't know what love is." I sighed defeatedly, looking away from the boy.

He reached a hand out to cup my chin as she brought my brown eyes back to his black ones, "Let me show you."
