"In my opinion, sir, I think you should take Shadow Queen up on her offer."

Y/N scoffed. "And by offer you mean order." He crumpled the letter. Y/N took a deep breath and opened the door.

And saw a bald man talking with Jade and Sophia.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!" He screamed, and in an instant, the man was on the ground, grabbing at his throat. He was choking.

"Y/N, wait!" He heard Jade scream his name, but all he could see was an intruder. All he could feel was fear, fear that someone had gotten into his home undetected. Fear that he was about to lose his only friends in the world. That is, until he felt a fire blast to the face. The man gasped for air.

"What the hell was that for?" He shouted at Sophia. She looked furious, and also a little impressed, and maybe a hint of longing. He couldn't be sure, because as soon as their eyes met, she blushed at his look, and turned away.

"Sorry.." she mumbled.

"That's for damn sure." Y/N grumbled as he started healing his face. "I have a couple questions. He pointed at the stranger, who had gotten up and started brushing off his suit. "Who, where, when, why, and how?"

The man chuckled before breaking into a coughing fit.. "That's more than a couple." He checked himself one last time, then held out a hand for Y/N to shake. "Agent Jordan Wells, at your service. If you've gotten your invitation letter by now, as I'm sure you three have, I am the representative it mentioned."

Y/N's eyes narrowed. "Where and when?"

Sophia answered that. "A portal opened and he came out a couple minutes ago, while you were 'thinking'." She took a deep breath, and continued. "We had the same reaction, although a little less violent."

"And soundlessly, too. I couldn't hear anything." Y/N said suspiciously.

"He pointed at his lips to shush, then flashed his badge at us." Jade interjected, pointing at something on Agent Wells' lapel. Y/N squinted, and sure enough, a badge said Agent J. Wells, USHT.

"I'm here to escort you three to the university. I have strict orders to take you straight to Professor Hadern's office." Agent Wells said, suddenly snapping into a business-like attitude. "Willingly or otherwise. She also said to make sure you all were in your hero outfits, as she wanted to get a full scope of you."

"That's not a problem." Y/N said. He sensed that Wells was telling the truth, although he still had his doubts about the academy and its methods. "We already are."

"Evidently. You all look splendid."

Sophia wrinkled her nose at that word. "Splendid isn't a word I would use. In fact, who does?"

"Outspoken. I will take note of that." Agent Wells nodded thoughtfully at her. Jade tapped her foot impatiently.

"Well? When are we going?" she asked Wells.

"Now." he said. As he did, a portal opened behind him. "Packing won't be a problem. All your personal belongings are waiting for you at the university." He backed through and beckoned for the young adults to follow him. Sophia was the first to comply.

Jade walked up next to Y/N and touched his chest softly. "I know you don't trust the school, but give it a chance. At least we know one person is decent."

Y/N sighed and shook his head. "It's not that. It was hard enough for me to open up to you two, to the extent that I have. Being surrounded by all these unfamiliar people...I don't know if I'll be ale to trust them." Jade's eyes softened at that.
