Jeff thoughts: The sound of my phone constantly buzzing forces me to open my heavy eyelids. I grab my phone and see that Mile has sent me a text.
Mile texting: Apo and I are outside your door. We've been knocking for 10 minutes. OPEN UP!
Jeff: Fuck!
Barcode moves a little still fast asleep.
Jeff thoughts: Did they have to come here today? I don't want Barcode to feel uncomfortable with them finding out he's here. Let alone why he's here. I could ignore them but they'll ask questions. I could answer but what if they want to come in? I ultimately decided to answer the door, find out what they came here for, and say goodbye without letting them enter.
Jeff texts: I'll be right there. I slept in.
Jeff thoughts: I get up from the bed careful not to wake Barcode. I see him lying there peacefully breathing. His hair is messy and only his lower half has cover. I pull up the cover to his shoulder and give a small kiss to his nose. I put on sweat pants over my underwear and walk to the front door. I open the door and put on a fake smile.
Mile: I can't believe you overslept. You're always up singing.
Apo: Now Mile, Jeff here probably has someone over.
Mile: Jeff? He never brings anyone to his house.
Apo: True. Well, except Nong.
Mile: Oh, how is Nong? I saw you two had an interview last night. I woke up to JeffBarcode trending on twitter.
Apo: I watched a clip! It's sweet how protective he is of our little brother.
Jeff knew that almost everyone in the cast considered his relationship with Code to be brotherly. At first people thinking like this gave him a weird feeling but at the time he didn't understand it. Then when he realized his feelings for his Tirak, it always irritated him. Code was so much more to him and hated how the love he has for him is always seen as Phi-Nong.
Jeff: Code is fine. He was very....satisfied after the interview.
Apo: Mmmh. That's good then. I tried texting him last night to see if he wanted to play a match online, but he never answered.
Mile: Po is playing it cool but he spent the night worrying about N'.
Apo smiles a little sarcastically at Mile and then secretly squeezes his ass cheek as punishment.
Jeff: Are you two just here to ask about Barcode?
Mile: No. We have a situation.
Apo: Situation? More like a disagreement. We need a third party.
Jeff: Uh, okay. What is it?
Apo: We're not talking about it out here.
Apo pushes his way past Jeff quickly.
Jeff didn't have enough time to react. Mile followed and they went to sit on the couch together.
Jeff thoughts: I nervously keep glancing at the door to my bedroom. I try to make the conversation quick.
Jeff: Okay, go ahead.
Mile: I want to move in together. But Apo refuses.
Apo: I've told you already. Moving in together is something I want too. However, what if people find out? We still don't even have an answer to what we are to each other.
Mile: Who cares if people find out? We don't owe them an explanation for anything.
Apo: I know we don't. There will be rumors though. More than there already are. I've already been asked in an interview regarding my sexuality. Are you actually prepared for the same questions and more invasive ones?
Jeff could see this conversation could take a while and needed to move it along.
Jeff: Look! If you want to move in together, do it. The invasive questions will come. But neither of you have to answer them. You can deal with how they make you feel together. Not to mention the fact the two of you feel ready to live together. You should also feel ready to deal with issues that arise together.
After finishing his speech. Jeff looked back once again at the door.
Apo and Mike looked at each other. They both know what Jeff said was true.
Mike opened his hand.
Mile: I want to do this together.
Apo: -Grabbed Mile's open hand- Together.
Jeff: I'm glad the both of you have worked this out. Now if you wouldn't mind-
Jeff stopped in his sentence due to his bedroom door opening.
Barcode: Jeffffff. -I say with a sleepy voice- Do you have any coconut milk?
Barcode thoughts: I close the door and turn back around. The first thing I see is Jeff giving me a strangely apologetic look. I start moving towards Jeff, but then I notice the other people in the room. P'Mile and P'Apo are sitting the couch staring at me. Mile looks shocked. Apo looks upset. Apo and I consider each other to be brothers. He always takes care of me like Jeff. But, with brotherly love. I gulp and bite my lip unsure of how to handle the situation. Apo starts to scan my body. I look down embarrassed. I'm only wearing boxers P'Jeff gave me. On top of that. My chest is covered in hickies. Feeling incredibly uncomfortable. I look at Jeff.
Jeff, seeing Barcode, looked at him so helplessly. Without thinking he approached and gently spoke.
Jeff: Why don't you get some clothes? We can talk after-
Apo interrupts Jeff, his blood boiling.
Apo thoughts: I look at the embarrassed N'Code who walks out of his Phi's bedroom. I observe his state, which is nothing but underwear. Then my eyes move to his chest which has undoubtedly hickies across it. I try to come up with conclusions for what I'm seeing. Not willing to believe what my eyes are telling me. Jeff moves towards Barcode. With his back turned toward me. I see the scratch marks. This is the final piece of evidence to push me out of my state of disbelief. I don't hear what Jeff is saying but it doesn't matter. I have something to say.
Apo: How could you take advantage of him? He's a kid. He trusted you. I trusted you. You're 9 years his senior. Do you think he's just some fucking cheap date you take home.
Barcode: P' it's not like that. I'm not a kid anymore. I'm old enough to make this decision.
Mile: Apo maybe you should calm down. Nong is right. He's 18. In Thailand he's been able to make this kind of decision for himself since 15.
Jeff: I would never take advantage of Barcode.
The anger in Apo's accusations is nothing compared to anger Jeff let through when speaking.
Jeff: You know how much I love Barcode. Trust in what I said. I would never take advantage of him in any way.
Apo: Yeah I know how much you love Barcode. I just didn't know that love including fucking him.
Barcode pulled on Jeff's arm to keep him calm.
Barcode: Stop P'. I understand you love me as a brother. I know you want to protect me. You see me as a kid. But, I've long since stopped being a kid. Not everyone is going to see me as you do. I made the decision to be with Jeff. You don't have a right to make accusations about Jeff. Even if you are angry.
Apo froze.
Apo thoughts: I stared into the eyes of the kid I met on set and immediately knew I would take care of. The kid who became my brother. I couldn't help but wonder if those same kids' eyes really are the eyes of a man now. I hated the idea of someone so close to my own age, being with N'Barcode like that. However, seeing the love that was shown in Jeff's eyes while looking at Barcode. Despite the anger that was clearly there while he looked at Apo. Made him feel it wasn't right to step in between them.
Mile: We should go. Give them privacy. Give you time to think through your words.
Apo: Mmmh, let's go.
Before I reached the door I turned around and looked at Jeff.
Apo: I'm choosing to trust you. If you do anything other than what's right by him. I'll cut off your dick.
With that Apo walked out the house. Mile mouthed an apology to them both and followed after Po.
