The next month passed by in a whirlwind of activity and most days were normal.
Winnie had gradually shifted from unexpected guest to roommate. He had transformed the guest room into a place that represented his unique personality. He also had gotten a part time job as a sales associate at a very exclusive and expensive boutique in Georgetown. He was even considering attending the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland as a part time student. It wasn't a long commute at all thanks to the subway system. Winnie grew to love the Metro until he was panhandled by a homeless man who called him a gay slur and then harassed sexually by " a smelly old man ". He was now studying to get his driver's license. Reed was concerned that Winnie was developing a one sided crush on the more debonair playboy Charles who barely knew he existed. Theo had soothed his worries by pointing out that it wouldn't amount to anything because " two divas in one relationship was one diva too many".
Charles was competing with Grace in the " Who can drive Theo crazier " contest. They were both emailing him daily weird links to every crackpot cancer " cure " they could find. Like flying to Mexico to have cow marrow implanted in him ( Charles) and drinking a lovely kiwi favored drink once a day ( Grace). Theo deleted each link every time he saw them. Luckily Charles was in Spain transforming a sexy actress from sexpot to starlet so it limited his texts to two a day.
The only downside was the very intense chemotherapy that made Theo extremely sick. After a session he came home and slept for hours. Reed had taken over all the cooking and Winnie the cleaning. Most nights Theo found himself puking constantly in the toilet. Often Reed ended up holding a shivering crying sick Theo on the bathroom floor in between vomiting bouts. Winnie, bless his heart , had started making Theo regular herbal tea to help settle his stomach. Reed and Theo were starting to adore Winnie and both wanted to beat the hell out of his father for disowning him. Theo made it into the office twice a week. Sometimes he didn't make it in at all and he worried over bills. He didn't want to be a financial burden to anyone and he also didn't want to put more pressure on Reed.
He was also thinking too much about the possible future without him in it. Which was why he made the visit to the lawyer that had Reed seeing red.
