It was spring and Ash was staring at the sky laying down. His battery was running out and he was frustrated because of that. Ash had alot of passion and was a straight forward kid. He never hesitated and was always energetic but unfortunately━his stamina didn't keep up with his determination. His immunity power was very weak so he had to avoid extra activities. He didn't think about his cons because it'd bring him and his mood more down, instead he looked at the positive side. His height, his good looks, his smooth conversation with people.
He compensated the lack of stamina with other activities that didn't require alot of strength like reading books. He enjoyed it.
But these days he keeps getting distracted due a blonde girl who sits 24/7 in the library. Ash never saw her anywhere else other than library. She ate there, she slept there, she cried there, she laughed there,
Alone.
He did glance at her during few classes they shared together. Turns out she was an exchange student who barely had friends and wasn't even that interested.
He wanted to shoot his shot.
"Excuseme?" He asked and then she looked up, meeting his gaze.
She had rosy cheeks and large ocean blue eyes that Ash got lost in. He got flustered just by her gaze and then he tried to maintain his cool by coughing.
"Is that julius caesar?" He pointed at the book and that was it. Her eyes sparkled with joy and her lips curved into a beautiful smile. She was surprised that someone actually knew Shakespeare books. She was beyond thrilled just by a simple question.
"You know Shakespeare books?" She asked and Ash pointed towards the chair asking if he could take a seat and she nodded full of excitement.
"Serena?" He called her name for the first time to which she nodded brightly.
"Serena?"
He said her name again and this was first time in years; in the most unexpected place ever. The office. She had the same bright eyes and the only difference was dark circles underneath her eyes.she no longer wore spectacles, they were replaced by contact lens. She looked more mature, her aura had changed. She was more shocked to see a familiar person infront of her holding a file.
Her ex boyfriend, Ash ketchum.
The lift was crowded with people and Ash tried his best to maintain a distance between Serena and him. She looked down half of the time and didn't say a word after the encounter. The lift slowly became empty and she let out a breath when there was enough gap between her and Ash.
She finally looked up and then gave a small smile, at Ash who was waiting for her to speak something.
"Wow its such an unpleasant surprise." With her sweet voice and Ash just nodded, opening his files checking through them which contained her resume and details regarding her work experience.
"Sure is." He responded, closing the file. never in his wildest dreams he thought he'd bump into his ex who he imagined to spend his whole life with, if they hadn't broken up.
The elevator opened and both of then stepped forward, Serena adjusted her fit before getting into the room where she was working as a graphic designer. Ash opened the door for her and then she entered, greeting everyone.
"Everyone meet our new emolyee. Serena Yvonne," He introduced and Serena maintained her composure, smiling at everyone who introduced themselves. She was hesitant as she learnt that Ash was the team leader but being mature she decided to draw a line between her work and personal life.
Personal life? She waned to leave the past and forget about his existence. He had the same thoughts. He didn't want any other interactions other than work.
Neither of them wanted to have a conversation but now, since they share the same workplace, they both have to face eachother everyday.
And no <3 I am not a fan of Shakespeare but my mom is and she keeps on talkin abt his works
