Red Sky at Morning (pt.1)

The sound of engines roaring down the road filled the once quiet atmosphere. Dean was driving the impala, Sam was in the passenger seat, and Beau was on his bike riding behind them.

The car was overflowing with a tense silence, Dean's jaw was clenched, and Sam was oblivious to his look. "So, I've been waiting since Maple Springs. You got something to tell me?"

Sam displayed a fake, confused face, playing dumb to what Dean was talking about, "it's not your birthday."

"No."

Sam pretended to think, "... Happy Purim?" He let's out a laugh, "dude, I don't know. I have no idea what you're talking about -"

Dean cut him off, raising his voice, his brows furrowed in anger, "There's a bullet missing from the Colt. You want to tell me how that happened?" Dean stole a quick glance at Sam before looking back at the road, "I know it wasn't me, and i'm damn sure it wasn't Beau. So unless you were shooting at some incredibly evil cans..."

A look of self-loathing washed over Sam's face, "Dean..."

Dean quickly spoke back up, "you went after her, didn't you? The crossroads demon. After I told you not to." Sam spoke, almost in a nonchalant tone, "yeah, well..."

"You could've gotten yourself killed!"

Sam looked at Dean, "I didn't." Dean only continued to talk, "and you shot her." Sam finally snapped back, "she was a smartass!"

After a beat of silence between the two, Dean spoke, "so, what? Does that, does that mean I'm out of my deal?"

A mix of anger and disappointment made its way out of Sam, "Don't you think I might have mentioned that little fact, Dean? No. Someone else holds the contract."

Dean had a questioning look on his face, "who?"

"She wouldn't say."

Dean spoke with a sarcastic, irritated tongue, "Well, we should find out who. Of course, our best lead would be the Crossroads Demon. Oh, wait a minute..."

"That's not funny."

Dean's voice turned sharp, "No, it's not! It was a stupid freaking risk, and you shouldn't have done it." Sam furrowed his brows in confused anger at what his brother just said, "I shouldn't have done it? You're my brother, Dean." Sam shook his head to further prove his argument, "and no matter what you do, I'm gonna try and save you. And I'm sure as hell not gonna apologize for it, all right?"

Dean is silent after Sam told him off, not wanting to keep up with the argument. Sam just shook his head in exasperation.

Sam, Dean, and Beau were all impersonating officers of the law to interview a witness of their new recent case. A drowning in a shower....yea.

Their witness was an older elegant and well-groomed woman named Gertrude Case. She was holding a framed photo of the victim, who just so happened to be her niece. "But I don't understand. I already went over all this with the other detectives."
