The Secrets of Beau

Beau was dreading this moment for the past week. He knew he'd promised Sam that he'd answer any questions he's had about him, but honestly, he'd hoped Sam might just forget. Then again, how could anyone forget what they'd seen that night.

Beau silently trudged into the brothers shared room. Sam had asked him to help him with the little surprise he wanted to throw for Dean - who was currently out getting alcohol.

"Okay, what do you want from me, Winchester?"

Sam pursed his lips, huffing a little, then walked over to his bed, kneeling down to pull out a plastic bag and a small box. "I figured we'd talk while you help me."

Beau nodded. "Fair enough." He takes the bag and box from Sam, setting them on the table next to the couch before taking a seat. "Since I know you're just itching to interrogate me, you might as well start now." He felt the couch dip as Sam sat next to him.

"How? And... why?" Sam's voice was hesitant, his brows knit in confusion as he studied the side of Beau's face.

Beau sighed and closed his eyes. "Before I even say anything, just know I was young and dumb and very desperate." He started setting up the items from the bag, handing the box to Sam, who opened it and pulled out a miniature Christmas tree. "My family was small, just me, my parents and my brother. We lived in a town where everyone knew everyone, and to a lot we were seen as the 'ideal' family." Beau let out a soft, bittersweet laugh in remembrance.

His face fell as he continued. "But they were murdered." He takes in a deep breath and takes the tree from Sam to begin decorating it as a way to try and keep his composure.

"See you assholes in two weeks!" A teen Beau jumped out of a truck, a laugh escapes his mouth as he heard a couple yells at him and a shove on his shoulder.

"You guys know I love you, stop being dramatic."

A young girl with brown hair turned in her seat to look at him, "tell your mom I said hi - I haven't seen her in forever."

Beau waved her off, "yeah, yeah, I will Roxy." Beau hit the side of the truck with his hand, "be safe guys, love ya!"

Beau watched as the truck sped off down the street with a smile on his face. He turns around and takes quick steps towards his house, taking his keys out he unlocks the door and steps in. The cold air from the AC immediately hitting his face. "Guys, I'm home!" Closing the door, he makes his way to the kitchen, expecting to see his family having dinner."

"Are you guys ignoring me now? I know I said I'd be home this morning but Nick kept having to stop because of his annoyingly small bladder." He stops in the doorway of the kitchen when he doesn't see anyone but shrugs it off thinking they were either in the living room or all doing their own thing. Setting his backpack down on a dining room chair, he calls out again.

"Hellloooo!" He called, his tone playful, but again - nothing. "Jack? I'm home."

Beau walks down the hallway towards his brother's room, half expecting his brother to come barging out and plow right into him, but nothing comes. Stopping in front of his brother's room Beau quietly opens the door, the light from the hallway floods the room, allowing Beau to see his little brother lying peacefully in his bed. Beau smiles at the sight, "sleep well little stinker." Making sure to close the door he slinks off to the living room, hearing the faint noise of the TV playing.
