Y/N Pov

Sitting in the peaceful tranquility of the academy's courtyard, I watched as the gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the surrounding trees, carrying with it the sweet scent of flowers in bloom. A familiar feelig was in my hand as I looked down to see Elsie's fingers intertwined with mine. Beside me sat the rescued blonde girl, her presence a reminder of the darkness that lurked beyond the safety of these walls. Her attire was a long red skirt with brown shoes and a white blouse. Her eyes were still dull and likely will stay that way as well for a long time to come.

Turning to her, I couldn't help but feel a surge of curiosity. "Who are you actually?" I asked gently, my voice soft with concern. "And where do you come from?"

The girl met my gaze with a mixture of sadness and gratitude, her eyes reflecting the weight of her ordeal. "My name is Lila," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of sorrow. "I'm the daughter of a wealthy merchant from the neighboring town."

I felt my hand being squeezed gently. "Don't ask her that." She reprimanded with a low voice.

As she spoke, Irene approached, her expressions filled with concern. "Lila," Irene said softly, her voice gentle yet firm. "Can you tell us what happened?"

Lila nodded, her voice trembling slightly as she recounted the harrowing events that had led to her abduction by the Goblins. "I was traveling with my father to a banquet he was invited to," she began, her words coming out in a rush yet she suddenly stopped. "But we were ambushed by the Goblins, and they... they took me captive."

I felt a surge of anger and indignation rise within me as I listened to Lila's story. The thought of innocent people being subjected to such cruelty filled me with a fierce determination to put an end to the Goblins' reign of terror once and for all. A light squeeze on my hand got me out of my thoughts. Looking Elsie I noticed her worried expression. "Pleasse stay calm, there is no need to be angry now." Her hand went up to my cheek gently touching it. "You still aren't back to full health."

But as I looked into Lila's eyes, I saw a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. She had survived the horrors that had befallen her, and now, she was safe within the walls of the academy, surrounded by people who would do everything in their power to protect her.

Irene's gaze lingered on me for a moment. With a tug on my sleeve she pulled me up easily into the air, a determined glint in her eyes. "Y/n," she said firmly, her voice carrying a sense of purpose. "It's time for a training duel." Elsie jumped up grabbing my hand. "Mother are you sure he can train again? I think he still needs time to rest." She protested and Irene just giggled.

"Dear daughter, I asure you that he's perfectly healthy, maybe he was just playing sick so he can keep his head laid on your plush thighs." She let me down again and I noticed a light glare from Elsie in my direction. "Pervert." She huffed and took hold of Lila's hand, dragging her out of harms way.

I nodded, a flicker of excitement coursing through me at the prospect of testing my skills against Irene, a formidable opponent if ever there was one. "I'm ready," I replied, my voice steady with resolve.

With a nod of approval, Irene stepped back, her stance poised and ready as she prepared to face me in combat. I braced myself, summoning my magic to my fingertips as I prepared to meet her head-on.

But to my surprise, Irene made no move to unleash her own magic. Instead, she relied solely on her physical prowess, blocking my attacks with lightning-fast reflexes and precision. Her legs blurred with speed as she deftly countered each of my strikes, her movements fluid and graceful. I knew she was powerful but downright mocking me? "Come on Y/n, is that all you can do?" She asked, her arms crossed as she blocked a punch with her knee.
