I was standing at the doorframe of the third bedroom a children's room. Irene covered Erza under the blanket. She sat back on a chair that she pulled towards the bed. She opened the book and Erza looked at her from the bed smiling lightly.

A/n: This bedtime story is inspired by the Grimm brothers Fairy Tales that means that there is like in the original violence and other stuff. If you never read the original story of the Grimm bothers but the Disney copies then this might surprise you at how dark the originals were.

"Once upon a time there was a Queen, she had no husband as she stated that she is strong and can rule her kingdom without a king. The Queen was called Irene she had scarlet hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her age was just a tender 19. Irene was known as a merciful ruler that looked at her people not with disgust but with sympathy. She always tried to evade any conflict with other kingdoms. Her kingdom was wealthy as she used trading as a means of gaining the many riches that her kingdom owed. The Mountains around Dragnof were filled with gold, silver and many other precious goods. Such as diamonds rubies and sapphires. The Kingdom of Dragnof flourished under Irene's reign. Travelers called it the city of gold and gems. There were no poor people as Irene herself was going around the city checking if the citizens were happy and if they had any problems she would waste no time and help she'd call a nearby guard and make them help while Irene lend a hand herself to help. One time Irene was walking by a woman that was in labor she called for the guard to get the doctor. Irene stood by the woman but when the doctor came Irene already held the newborn in her hands and gave it to the mother, she helped to bring a child into this world." Irene said with a smile.

"However time passed and other kingdoms heard of Dragnof's riches. Informed by a spy Irene knew that she stood no chance if she'd go to war with her own kingdom. She turned to the only country that she could ask for help. The king of that country only gave help if she married the general of the kings army. With no other choice Irene agreed as it was for the people of her country. She married the general and defeated the Army of the king from Bellum that attacked Dragnof. With the war over Irene thought that she now had peace and could go back to rule her kingdom. But the real tragedy just began. One night Irene was in her bedroom she cried as she was abused and raped by her drunken husband more then once. 'I wont allow that anything happens to you I'll protect you' The Queen said and held her belly. She was pregnant." Irene said with lightly shaky voice.

"It came worse as she was outcast from her kingdom. The General had incited a revolt against her and so Irene was now sitting in a cave in the woods with a child growing inside her, hungry and cold. One night Irene woke up from a loud thunder storm. She heard footsteps coming closer. Irene hid behind a rock as she was scared that her husband would want to kill her. The Queen heard a groaning sound, it sounded like a man. She peered over the rock looking at a rather young looking male with blonde hair. The man also had a large traveling bag next to him. The fire that the man made showed that he had scars along his arms. His face had a single scar splitting his left eyebrow. Under them were eyes that had a unique ice blue color. His chiseled chin had a short beard. His lips were tugged into a smile. "You can come out I wont hurt you." The man said softly as he gazed over to Irene.

The Queen not feeling any danger coming from him slowly walked to him and sat on the other side of the fire. "What's your name." The stranger asked with a soft smile. Irene looked at him a little skeptical but she sighed lightly. "It's Irene Belserion." She said with a sorrow filled voice.

The man was a little shocked as he realized that he had a person of royalty in front of him. "Queen Irene, what are you doing here your highness and in these tattered clothes." The man asked seemingly shocked. Irene looked down, the clothes she wore were ripped and dirty. It had been a few weeks that Irene was cast out from her own kingdom. "I got thrown out from my kingdom by my husband." She replied and looked down. Suddenly Irene's stomach growled signaling that she hadn't had any decent thing to eat. The man hearing this grew a concerned frown.
