Y/n lay under the sprawling branches of a tall oak tree, the cool shade providing little comfort from the turmoil in his mind. He stared up at the leaves, his thoughts a tangled mess. Elsie's words echoed in his head, heavy with confusion and guilt.

Why did she say I should have been with her? He wondered. What was she going through that I didn't see? The image of her tear-streaked face and the sound of her sobs haunted him. He hated that he had caused her such pain, but he didn't understand what he had done wrong.

After a long, restless while, Y/n stood up, determination hardening in his chest. He needed answers, and he needed to find Irene. She would know what to do, she was Elsie's mother afterall. He headed towards the house, his steps quickening with each passing moment.

Inside, he found Irene in the parlor, surrounded by elegant gowns. Heine and Juliet were there too, their faces lit up with excitement as they helped select a wedding dress for Elsie. The sight of the beautiful dresses only deepened the ache in his heart.

"Irene," he called, his voice laced with urgency.

Irene looked up, her expression shifting to concern as she saw the distress in his eyes. "Y/n, what's wrong?" With a motion of her hand the wedding dresses disapeared, to the girls dismay.

He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "It's Elsie. She's... she's upset, and I don't understand why. She said I should have been with her, but I don't know what she means."

Irene's face softened with sympathy. She put down the gown she was examining and walked over to him. "Come with me," she said gently, leading him to a quieter corner of the room.

Heine and Juliet exchanged worried glances but continued with their task, sensing the gravity of the conversation.

"Irene, please," Y/n began, his voice breaking slightly. "I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm losing her, and I don't even know why."

Irene placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Y/n, there's something I need to tell you. Every time you and Elsie have been intimate, she has cried in the shower afterwards."

Y/n's heart sank. "She cries? Why? What have I done wrong?"

Irene shook her head, her eyes filled with sadness. "She hasn't said exactly why. I don't think it's something you've done wrong, Y/n. It's more about what she's feeling inside. Elsie is dealing with a lot of complex emotions. If I had to guess it could be some sort of trauma."

Y/n ran a hand through his hair, frustration and helplessness mixing in his chest. "I don't understand. I love her so much. I just want her to be happy."

"I know you do," Irene said softly. "And she knows that too. But sometimes, our emotions don't make sense, even to ourselves."

Y/n took a deep breath, trying to process what Irene was telling him. "What should I do? How can I help her?"

Irene thought for a moment. "We need to understand what's causing her to feel this way. She might not be able to articulate it herself. Perhaps Lila could help. She's been through a lot and might have some insights."

Y/n nodded slowly, feeling a glimmer of hope. "I'll talk to Lila then. Anything to help Elsie."

Irene gave him an encouraging smile. "We'll get through this, Y/n. Together. Elsie loves you, and with time and understanding, we can help her heal."

"Thank you Irene, I'll be on my way now." Y/n apologized himself.

. . .

Y/n walked down the dimly lit hallway towards Lila's room, his mind a storm of worry and determination. The weight of Elsie's tears and her anguish pressed heavily on his heart. He knew he needed answers, and Lila was his last hope. As he approached Lila's door, he paused, taking a deep breath to steady himself before knocking lightly.
