I saw Irene walk towards the small Erza and sit down next to her on the couch. Erza moved over to Irene and laid her head on Irene's arm. Irene looked a bit surprised at her daughter, when suddenly tears appeared on Erza's face. "I don't wanna be strong it's scary I don't wanna be an adult I want to fell safe" Erza sobbed into Irene's arm. We both looked a little shocked at her.

"Erza why are you saying this" Irene asked seemingly confused about her daughters behavior.

"I don't know I just wanna fell safe mommy" Erza whined as she buried her face in Irene's shoulder. Irene's face suddenly froze when Erza said the last word.

"She called me mommy" Irene said with a happy smile. Irene couldn't help it but cry tears of joy as she tightly embraced Erza into a hug.

"Don't worry mommy is here for you my little scarlet warrioress" Irene cooed while she lightly caressed Erza's back.

Irene looked at me for help. "What could have made that drastic change in her" Irene asked seemingly confused.

I walked to her with a slightly worried face. "I don't know but perhaps her subconsciousness saw you as a person that could keep her safe because you are her mother and so she behaves like a child to get your attention by crying. And you automatically try to calm her down by talking calmly to her and being close to her as your motherly instinct makes you do it." I said and looked at Irene that held the small Erza in her arm hugging her.

"Maybe you are right." Irene said as Erza pulled away from the hug still sniffling. "So what should we do with you Erza you can't control your emotions" Irene asked with worry in her voice.

"I don't know, why don't you tell me it" Erza said and pouted.

"I will just have to be here for you maybe that helps" Irene said and moved a hand over Erza's cheek.

I smiled as I saw Irene being so caring. "You think that this could be a reaction of her always having to be the strong one in Fairy Tail. And her child like size made her vent all the pent up sadness and emotions" I asked Irene with a solemn and worried voice.

"Probably, she always was alone had to endure torture, was forced to leave her friends at the tower of heaven. She even saw some die to protect her." Irene counted with a sad face.

"I should have tried to be there for her not leave her at the village. I was strong enough to leave her so I could have been strong enough to raise her as well." She added and cried a little.

"Erza I'm deeply sorry for letting you go through all this alone." She said seemingly heartbroken. "But don't worry I wont leave my child alone anymore." She added and looked up with a smile. "I have to protect my most important thing, like I did for 400 years" She said and gritted her teeth. "Whoever tries to hurt you will die" She added with a fire in her eyes like I have never seen.

Erza looked at her mother with a smile. "Thank you mommy" Erza cried as she clutched her small face into the crook of her neck her arms going around it.

Irene's face was full of emotions right now, she was overwhelmed by Erza. "I will have to protect you as you now vent your pent up feelings" Irene said with a soft motherly tone. "I the Scarlet Despair will bring fear upon everyone that hurts my little girl." She said with a serious look.

I smiled at the sight of Irene being so protective of her daughter. I laid an arm lightly around her.

"I can finally understand what it means to do everything for the ones you love." She said with a happy smile. "Makarov was right Fairy Tail is a family and it will change even the people with the coldest heart into kindhearted beings." She added and smiled in joy.
