Nika - Every weekend, Beyoncé's daughter, Celine, and I hang out together and have fun. She's the only one I consider a real friend. Every time I try to make friends, they either become distant or too friendly, which comes off as fake kindness. It's obvious that these people want to be my friend for the money. Celine sees me as a human, and she's also a celebrity's child so she can relate.
Celine - I can't believe we are already done with high school and it's only been 3 months. I'm going to miss Justin.
Nika - Wait, what happened to Justin?
Celine - He's moving to Canada.
Nika - That sucks.
Celine - I've been crushing on him for 3 years and now I won't be able to see him. I'm going to miss secretly watching him.
Nika - See, I told you. Why didn't you just shoot your shot when you had the chance?
Celine - I'm way too shy for that, and you know it. I couldn't even ask him for his number or his Instagram.
Nika - It's okay, he's not the only man on earth. You'll find better one day, I'm sure of that.
Celine - I hope so.
They kept talking and stopped when they saw a banner on a wall.
"Girls! Did you ever wonder if someday you could become the princess of rap? We are holding auditions for the biggest female rap contest in the world, ready to change the industry?"
Celine looked at Nika, who was still staring at the banner. Celine softly rested her hand on Nika's shoulder.
Celine - Are you okay?
Nika sighed.
Nika - Yes, I'm good. I'm just tired of seeing rap-related things whenever I go. It's like I can never escape this world.
Celine - I'm sorry you feel that way. Maybe it's a sign.
Nika looked at Celine, confused.
Nika - What do you mean?
Celine - I'm not saying that I'm right, but maybe your mother wants you to be her successor and inherit the throne she left behind. She's leaving you signs. I don't think she would like seeing a random girl being called the "princess."
Nika - I know what you mean, and you might be right, but I'm scared. I'm afraid to disappoint everyone, including my mother. People will have high expectations, but the truth is I will never be on Nicki Minaj's level.
Celine - I understand you, and it's still your choice. If you don't want to have anything to do with the rap industry, it's your decision.
Celine hugged her to make her feel better, then they went back home.
The next day, Nika goes to work like every morning. She answers calls every day, that's basically the only thing she does. Hours later, she can finally go back home.
Nika - (This is so boring, but at least I have a job and make money from it. I shouldn't complain.)
While walking on the street, she hears voices.
Tatiana - I'm going to the audition tomorrow. I have to find the best outfit I can. I really need to give that old woman the karma she deserves.
Nika suddenly stops.
Nika - Wait, what is she talking about?
Nika fakes using her phone so the girls talking won't notice she's listening to them.
Tatiana - The princess of rap ending up being the queen's biggest opp's daughter is the nastiest karma that could exist.
Lucia - And that would be for all the times Nicki tried to humiliate your mom.
Tatiana - Absolutely.
Nika - (Are they seriously talking about my mom?)
Accidentally, Nika makes her phone fall, which catches the girls' attention.
Nika - Shit!
While she was grabbing her phone, the two girls approached Nika.
Tatiana - Lady, were you listening to us?
Nika - N.. No! I was just passing by.
Tatiana doesn't say a word. She analyzes Nika's face for a moment, then her eyes illuminate as she understands.
Tatiana - You have the exact same face as that loser Nicki. Lucia look, it seems like she gave birth to another loser.
Nika also analyzes Tatiana's face for a moment, then she also understands.
Nika - You also look like that wannabe rapper, oh what was her name? Botched B?
Nika also learned more about who her mother's opps were, hearing about Cardi B quite a lot.
Tatiana - Laugh all you want, but I'm going to get the princess title and there's nothing you can do to stop me.
Nika - Oh yeah? Well, see you tomorrow at the auditions.
Nika flipped her hair and went in the opposite direction.
Nika - I don't know what happened to me, but suddenly I had reasons to join the competition. I was determined to secure that princess title. Maybe Celine was right, maybe I need to stop being scared and sit on the throne my mom left behind because this is surely what she wants to happen.
