Chapter 29

"What do you mean by he is busy?" James frowned.

 "I mean that he is not available for a few days." Severus said looking at him blankly which earned him a pillow to his face. Severus caught is swiftly and laughed. "I don't know the exact details, Jamie. I just know that Remus is busy. I don't know much." 

"You should've asked him why he didn't reply to my letters if he could reply to yours." James pouted. 

"He didn't reply to me. I went to his place and he seemed..." Severus paused to find the right word. "He seemed jittery and he was eager to send me off. I felt something off, but asked him to come and meet you as soon as he can."

"Did you mention my name?" James asked and Severus shook his head. 

"I'm a Slytherin, if you are forgetting." Severus pointed out and James rolled his eyes at the sneaky bastard. 

"Fine, fine." James said looking at the door and back at him. "Where is Julia?"

"She is at Malfoy Manor. Draco and Julia are trying to bond with each other for me, apparently. But, I can see that he was excited to finally make her as his friend. That boy wanted to be her friend in the first year but said the right thing at the wrong time and they became enemies. He has a big mouth, just like you." Severus chuckled and James scoffed at him. 

"I don't." James said and Severus raised an eyebrow. 

"If you think so." Severus didn't argue and let it go. "He reminds me of you, Jamie. In many ways. I think he has taken after his godfather in many ways." 

"He did?" James asked in surprise. "That's nice."

"Yes, he doesn't know what's right and what's wrong. He is still a child and thinks it's ok for him to do anything for fun. I wanted to stop him many times, but something stopped me. I think it's your memories that were still somewhere in me that stopped me. But, I did my best to make sure he didn't go to extremes either. I only let him go to extremes if it was Weasley and Granger." Severus told him. "I'm not saying that I encouraged if he bullied others. He knows the difference, at least."

"That I didn't." James said looking away from Severus, but he held James' chin and made him look into his eyes. 

"Don't think about it again, Jamie. I told you, I forgave you for it long ago. I don't mind. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't have been here like this now." Severus said and James gulped nodding his head. 

"I just can't get it out of my head ever, Sev. It's like, it's going to taunt me till I die. I just can't help it. I feel so shitty everytime I think about what I did to you or how I behaved with you." James said shaking his head. "I don't know if I can ever overcome the guilt though. I love you and I know that you love me too. But, I still feel shitty whenever I think about us at Hogwarts." 

"I want you to forget it, Jamie. Please, I can't take it if you continue to feel guilty for something that I don't blame you anymore." Severus said stroking his nape lightly. 

"I'm trying, Sev. I'm trying." James said to him. 

"Ok, let's talk about something else so that you won't think too much about it again." Severus said to him. "Did you know that Evans and the Longbottom couple killed the son of Rodolphus and Bellatrix? It was what made Bella lose her sanity."

"I didn't know." James looked at him with wide eyes. "How are they doing now? After losing a child, she even had to endure all these years at Azkaban. Poor, Bella."

"Yes, she isn't weak though. She is still one of the strongest duelers among the death eaters." Severus said to him. "I don't pity her, I hate pitying anyone. But, I felt it was so unfair for her to go through all this shit because she was born dark. I never thought Longbottoms were this biased. Evans, I can understand. But them? Never."
