The evening painted a stunning picture as the sun dipped behind the clouds, casting a warm orange glow across the sky. The bustling city streets were alive with the sounds of cars and the chatter of pedestrians.
Among them, a young man hurried through the crowd, offering quick apologies whenever he accidentally bumped into someone.
Pushing open the door of a cozy coffee shop, he scanned the room until a familiar voice called out to him. "Felix, over here!" Smiling, Felix made his way to the source of the voice and took a seat opposite to that person.
"Hey, James, what's up? What's so urgent that we couldn't talk about it over the phone?" Felix asked, curiosity piqued.
James grinned, a glint of excitement in his eyes. "I'm getting married next month, and..." Before he could finish, Felix's eyes widened in excitement.
"No way! That's incredible news!" Felix exclaimed, unable to contain his joy for his friend.
James chuckled, interrupting Felix's excitement. "I know you're excited, but let me finish," he said with a laugh. Felix, realizing his eagerness, leaned back, propping his chin on his palm, signaling James to continue.
"So, you know Scarlet went to meet her parents, and she didn't tell me that she talked to them about us. She asked them about their thoughts on us getting married, to which they had a positive response. Then, she surprised me a few days ago by proposing, and here is the ring." James showed off the ring, a glint of happiness in his eyes. "I tried calling you several times, but your phone was switched off. Anyway, the wedding is next month, and I'm so happy," James finished his story, smiling widely.
Felix, who had been smiling throughout James's recounting, replied, "I'm really happy for both of you. And I'm sorry for not picking up your calls. I've been thinking hard about my painting."
Hearing this, James sighed and said, "Felix, I know you want recognition as a painter, but it's hard. You too know how many painters are looking for an opportunity just to get one of their artworks famous."
Felix replied, "I know, but..." Before he could continue, James interrupted him. "Stop now, no 'buts.' Let's celebrate today. Come with me to the club and forget about painting for a day, okay? Let's go."
