Two days had passed since the incident, and the doctor visited again, delivering disheartening news that Aurelia's eye would not recover fully and that surgery could be risky.
Despite this, Felix assured her that it made no difference to him, even if her eyes were red.
The servants also continued to treat Aurelia with the same care and respect as before, which made her happy that nobody treated her differently.
Later in the afternoon, Felix was cleaning his paintbrushes when Aurelia entered his room.
He smiled at her and asked if she wanted something. Aurelia blushed, remembering that he had called her "love" previously to comfort her when she was in pain.
Now, after the incident, he still used the endearment.
"No, I just wanted to talk to you," Aurelia replied softly. Felix smiled and asked her to sit on the bed, patiently waiting for her to speak her mind.
"I... I want you to complete the portrait," she finally said. Felix was shocked. "What? Why?" he asked, concerned.
Aurelia sighed, explaining, "If we don't complete the portrait, he first hit me. I can't imagine him attacking you and injuring you. So please, just complete it and get away from danger."
Felix shook his head. "No, I won't do it. He wants solace and comfort in the portrait, and I won't give him that. Wait one more day. I already told James; he will come here tomorrow, and we both will leave this place. You will be happy as ever."
Moved by his words, Aurelia asked, "Really? Will you take me out of this hell?" Felix smiled, embracing her as he kissed her forehead.
"Yes, I will take you away from this hell, love," he promised, his voice filled with determination and love.
Their moment was interrupted by Austin walking in, clearing his throat.
"Miss, lunch is ready," he announced. Aurelia, flustered by the sudden interruption, nodded and quickly ran out of the room.
Felix stood up, adjusting his shirt, and followed her outside.
Meanwhile, Austin smiled to himself, taking a pocket watch out of his coat pocket. Opening it, he gazed at a picture of a lady inside.
"Darling, do you think Felix will keep Miss happy? He will, right? I want him to take her away, far away from this prison, where she can run freely," he whispered to the picture.
Closing the watch, he then went to join Aurelia and Felix for lunch, hoping for a brighter future for them both.
