Chapter 5
Autumn
Today feels different. After yesterday's texts from my parents, I slept until I woke up early this morning. It's 8:23 right now and I'm watching the sun slowly rise. I haven't been hungry, and my mum hasn't checked up on me which was weird but in my mind, I did need some space. I look around the room. By this time my mum's already at work which leaves me alone again. I look down at the pyjamas I've been in for the past few days and decide I need a shower. I can feel the strain on my body as I slowly get up and crawl out of my bed. I hold on to the walls as I walk to the bathroom. Every step feels like I've walked a thousand. My feet feel numb. Once I've reached the bathroom, I look at myself in the mirror. I see my dark blue eyes staring back at me. My brown hair shining in the light of the bathroom window. My eyelids are dark, and my eyes have big dark circles around them. I look like crap.
I slowly start to take my pyjamas off, but my legs shudder and I fall to the ground. I hold onto the edge of the sink and pull myself up. This bathroom isn't very big but there's a big shower. Once I've gotten out of my clothes I walk over to the shower and turn it on. The noise of the water hitting the ground calms me. I open the door and get in. I feel the cold water hitting my skin like rain and I close my eyes. For the second time, my legs fail me and I'm on the shower floor. It feels like rain hitting my back and for a few minutes, I just stay like that.
