Chapter Six "Destruction"

Chapter Six: Unpleasant feeling

There I lied down. On my very own bed. In my very own house. Well, this house is actually my parents', but hey, I live in it too. I couldn't sleep. They could come, at any moment. Gunfire, destruction, ash, bodies.... I would rather not think about it, but it couldn't go out of my head. Like I heard it every moment of the day. I was just here, on my very own bed, waiting for destruction to come. Desctruction of this paradise. There were some shuttles prepared in case we should flee. I knew for sure we would need them. If Dester didn't hold it with 6000 troops, then we won't hold it either with 60 troops.

I went outside. The sky was dark, like a storm would come, but it was still warm, and no wind. I felt my shirt sticking to my back. My heart bounced like it was gone nuts. Some people looked to the sky. Rogier came to me. He ran as a wild dog, saving me from the terrible disaster that would happen. He held my hand, and I could almost see tears in his eyes. I looked deep in his eyes. Rogier wasn't much scared normally, but now he was. Really scared.

And then, when I looked him, the sirens were activated. Everyone ran away and cried. I still looked to Rogier, untill I got pushed away. I fell on the ground, in the dust. I realized then what happened. I heard the sirens, very loud. Rogier pulled me back up, and looked up to the sky. I could heard a really big explosion. The sound went trough my body, and almost blasted me back. It became black in front of my eyes. I blinked my eyes adn everything became clear again.

"Keely! Get out of here!" Rogier yelled to me.

I stood there, watching the sky. The ground shaked. Rogier looked to the sky too. Those clouds became darker every second, until I noticed a shadow in it. It was arrow-shaped. I heard a sound you would also hear when those 20th century airplanes would crash. Then it appeared out of the clouds. I thought it was a tower. It wasn't, because I noticed the big white letters on the side of it. "U.H.A.B.S. Fortune".

My eyes became bigger. I realized this was the front of the spaceship Fortune, the ship that would evacuate us. It crashed into the Colony hills with a huge explosion. The blast and heat hit my face. My hair waved back. I couldn't believe this was actually happening. Then, I heard explosions again. Up in the sky. A big trail of some kind of fire was visible in the sky. It came closer... and closer.... and closer..... Then I saw what those things were: Some kind of green stuff. I ran away, as fast as the wind, picking up Rogier on the way to a shelter. I looked around me, everyone was scared and ran away. I heard explosions in the sky again. I looked to behind. The green stuff was already hitting the Colony's suburbs. Everything there was demolished. I cried, I cried of fear to die. The bombs were closing in on us, and rogier pulled me into a side street. He ran as fast he could. I heard another explosion. It's impact was probably nearby. Then it became black. Pitch black.
