It was rather quiet at dinner. I didn't want to talk about the fight between Luke and I, and of course my face still hurt. "Brucey...why'd that boy hit you with the ball?" Amy asked, and as I looked up I could see the interested look in my parent's eyes.

"Uhm..he doesn't like me," I say, my mouth slightly in pain. "Nothin' much to it."

My mom hummed, unsatisfied with my answer. "So he just hates you for no reason? Is he jealous of you?" She began asking questions.

"Seems so mom," I said, rolling my eyes. It was sort of annoying. I get that my parents are supposed to be worried about me, but it was annoying.

"I saw that Hopper boy follow you into the bathroom," My dad mentioned and I let out a quiet sigh. I knew he had kept an eye on the two of us and he was probably confused on why he followed me. "What was that all about?"

"He just needed to use the bathroom, dad," I lied to him. When I was younger it was hard to lie to my parents, but not now I guess. Maybe it was the fact that they had been getting on my nerves lately and I would do anything to get them to leave me alone. Or maybe Vance was wearing off on me, haha. "We didn't talk to each other. I ignored him."

"Good," my father nodded, turning to talk to my mother.

Soon they excused me and Amy from dinner and told us to go and get ready for bed, since we had school the next day. As we were walking upstairs Amy turned to me with a blank face, telling me, "I don't believe you."

"What do you mean?" I asked her, skeptical.

"That you didn't talk to Vance," she said with a shrug of her small shoulders. She skipped upstairs, hurrying to her room without another room. I ran up after her, knocking on her door. "What..." she asked all annoyed, but a giggle followed.

I stared down at Amy as she opened her door with a mischievous grin. "How would you know if I talked to him or not?" I scoffed defensively, crossing my arms.

Amy, again, giggled. She grabbed my sleeve and tugged me, making me follow her into her bedroom. When I finally stepped in, she closed the door behind me. "I'm not dumb, Brucey," she said, going to stand in front of me. "You walked out nervously with your coach who looked mad, but Vance walked out with a dumb grin on his face."

I felt my face get really warm. Did Vance really walking out smiling, or is Amy just making shit up? "Like I'd believe you," I scoffed, turning away.

"Aww is my brother in denial?" She asked.

I quickly turned around. "'Bout what?" I asked, kneeling down to her lever.

Amy wore a smug grin. "About being in love with the boy everyone hates," she said, poking my nose. "Now out! I need to change." I tried to open my mouth and defend myself, but Amy started to attempt to push me out of her room. I sighed, just going with it and leaving for my room.

I got changed into a long sleeve and some shorts and slipped into my bed. I couldn't sleep though. Amy's words were echoing through my head like a train. I wasn't in love with Vance. Was I?
